I have wrench's and sockets from most quality manafacturers including Snap on, Britool, Mac, Proto, Gedore, Facom, but I have no Japanese ones and knowing they like quality equipment, I wonder if I have just missed them. So what I'm asking is there a Japanese snap on equivalent.

Take a look at the 'tools from the old world' thread, some Japanese tools in there...

I've heard from a couple of sources that even a lot of the Japanese tech's prefer Snap on if they can get it.

Same reason many Japanese folks love Zippo and Harley Davidson, that "Made in the USA" stamp sells product. May not be a superior, but it has a certain aura around it.

Snap On is not that hard to come by in Japan. I'm not sure if they have tool trucks, but they can be found in Tokyu Hands department store's, as well as smaller specialty tool shops.

Yeah, they think we're all cool and stuff :D

I am SO FREAKING JEALOUS of people who live in a country where you only need Metric tools. I would be running either a much larger, or much nicer tool set right now. Having to buy both standards *****. That alone makes me want to move out of the USA.

is the full line available? I heard from on of the local Snap on dealers that when the techs were in the US for an event they nearly cleaned out his truck. I guess it could be a cost or availability thing.

Yah, I doubt the FULL line is available, and it's most likely priced better in the USA.

I'm still amazed how heavily Nepros is discounted on their USA website, compared to the Japanese domestic pricing. I wish they would sell the regular KTC tools for the same discount here.

I have several Koken extensions and they are very nice. Great when you want to grip the extension and spin it. Best I've seen, I dare say. Their interrupted pattern of knurling is the cat's ****.

I've looked through the Koken catalog and the rest of their tools look quality, but quite conventional. Not a lot of innovation to my eye. Their ratchets in particular look old school Proto for the most part. Yes, they have two pawls on the same axis, but that doesn't blow my skirt up.

google factory gear, they have brick stores that carry a pretty full line of snap on stuff. As well as lots of other brands.

Truecraft made some really good tools most all the farmers around here had them. Mostly made in Japan with some Spanish and US. They were owned by Daido (sp)

I only have a few japanese tools;

KTC extra long double spanner - Very much an 'industrial' finish but the quality is great and fits tight to the fastener.

Vessel attack impact driver - the finish is flawless, it hits hard and i've never had an issue with it.

Koken spinner handle - much better than anything else i've used, thicker and with a perfect finish, sockets fit tight.

10mm & 13mm koken 1/4" long swivel extension sockets, bought after seeing them on amazon.jp. They come in very handy.

Tone extra long 3/8 ratchet. Finish is great, very comfortable, the head is quite small and it fits in most places.

Overall Japanese tools are fantastic if you buy for a decent enough brand. I've got a 13mm nepros spanner on order, i'll see how that is. They're stuff is meant to be like jewels rather than tools.

Koken sold rebranded Beta wrenches for a while, not been available for a few years at least, unless you get lucky and find some old stock.

I got some nice Japanese wrenches via Wurth rebrands. Ratcheting quads and offset flex end line wrenches.

Top notch stuff. Pricey too so be prepared.
