JB Weld High Heat Product

OK, here is an interesting contradiction.

JB Weld advertises on the packaging for their "High Heat" product that it is

"Great for: Exhaust Manifolds"

However, when you go to their "FAQ" section of their site, you get this

"Will J-B Weld work on an automotive exhaust?

Because of the extreme temperatures of exhaust systems, we do not recommend J-B Weld for use on exhaust manifolds and catalytic converters"

Has anyone had experience with this product in exhaust applications? I have an inquiry in with these folks and will post their response.

I guess its good for exh. Manifolds that dont get hotter than 450 degrees?

20 years ago a bought a 68 Plymouth fury with a slant six that someone tried to fix a cracked exh Manifold with jb weld and it did not work. But it looked like they just covered the crack withoit cleaning the rust..

first you have to ask the question...what is JB Weld ? isn't it an epoxy . its not metal.

I remembered my Fluke multimeter measures temperature and discovered a high of 603F°.

This trying to be used to seal the gap between the manifold and first exhaust pipe section. During shipping UPS decided to bend one flange creating a significant gap and noisy exhaust leak.
