I'm looking for something like JB Weld but in a larger quantity. I want to put it over some seams in a 500 gallon barrel where the seams are welded. I'm pretty sure that's where it rust through in the next 5-10 years. I just want to extend the life of it until I'm tired of cutting wood. I rebarreled a taylor wood fired hot water heater. It will have a about 4 ft of water that's not under pressure.

Just line it with POR-15, Blast the interior and clean it to get all the **** out of it. then pour it in and roll it around. generally they rust out adjacent to the head seams on the head, mostly.

Doubt it will work if it has holes. Simply put a patch over and silicone it, tape tie or brace it in place till it hardens, can use sheet metal screws with it too. A big lap joint will be way strong.

Various Devcon products are used in the auto industry. I am sure the can provide large quantities.

Works fine on rusted out Auto Gas Tanks and Floors... I would bet it would work fine...
Besides he didn't say it WAS rusted out it says he wants to prevent it for a few years where the tank is welded...

It's a 500 gallon tank on legs and has about 1200 pounds of steel plate and flues inside. It's not that easy to move. I think i may try Devon, I've heard of it and Marinette, but couldn't remember the names of them.

Can be applied other ways... Roller or Brush... the Epoxies are going to be just as much a pain in the **** to use... probably more so... Let us know how it goes!

I will.

It turned into quite a project. It's still cheaper than building or buying a new heater. I've actually saved most of the pictures from the rebuild so far. When I get it finished I'll post it. I figure by the time it rust out again, I'll probably be tired of cutting wood or will have built another working babington ball burner to replace it with. For now I'm just trying to make do.
