and speaking of missing cabinet since it was taking so long to resolve the issue I made a few phone calls to Costco. Well I came home from work Thursday to what do I find cabinet #6 but I only purchased 5.
I have sent them a couple of emails informing them of the error. So I'll wait a bit before I say free cabinet

Also I was in skycraft the other day and these strip LED lights were to much to resist
So I pimped the place up some :bounce:

You should call costco again and see if they'll sent out 2 more.
Then you could stack them. :rocker:

I have emailed and called they seem confused :D so for now it will stay in the box after all I still need to mount the 5th one :headscrat
I'll give it time may try once more just to make me feel like I did what I could to be honest

Way over due for an update. Shop and house survived the Hurricane we went a week without power which also means no water for this street.
As soon as i figure out how i'm going to go back thru this thread and fix my pictures.

2 weeks before the hurricane I stepped on my foot wrong and limped around on the Friday before storm hit the wife insisted that i go get an xray well i was to busy that day so I went a week after the storm. And well I knew i broke some thing and it was confirmed.

Also My bil moved to Texas back in May and brought his 54 beetle over so my #2 son could do some body work on it, And then a Friend of mine also wants #2 son to tighten up some work on a 66 to get ready for paint.

we also moved #2 sons project out to the shop from the attached garage so we have work to be done out here

JC, now I understand... You are hoping Axel will grow quickly so he can pull you around in a wagon. Seriously, I hope the break didn't have to be re-set and try to take it easy at the Christmas and New Year's celebrations.

Thanks for the update. Also what Bob said. Now are those beetles or bunnies. Seem to multiply like bunnies. Heal well.

Time to update this thread. I think I'm going to cave in on PB as an easy way to fix my pics here they keep sending me emails with a lower price :shocking:

Anyway on with the update. July 2017 I had to put my 7 year old weimaraner down due to his fatty tumor growing to the point the skin started to tear  That was the hardest ever as it was the only thing wrong with him.
Well I'm a dog person I can't go long without one so I started looking in October. I did explore some rescues even some weim ones and in November someone posted a pic of a litter of weims and she still had a male. Meet Axel needless to say he is spoiled :lol_hitti

I love how easy these are to put up. mount the brackets hang it, level it and screw it to the wall.. My main goal is as much off the floor as possible, I have no idea how I pulled this off but it lines up pretty good with the other cabinets and meets the not on the floor rule

Sorry for your loss. Losing a dog is really tough. I still often think about the 2 we lost back-to-back in 2012. It's great to know you are making new memories with Axel. I bet he is a lot of fun.

The new cabinet looks awesome and fits in perfectly there in your shop. I'm sure it will work equally as well as it looks.

well A project I have been wanting to do is sort of a bs/ beer spot to keep my work bench a work bench. I had all this left over 3/4" oak and had a design in my head. I also had a good size part from when i did my other work bench in the attached garage,.

LET IT BE KNOWN I'm not good at wood work and I know this but this seemed pretty simple
We made brackets out of some 1-1/2 angle and cut a few straight pieces for the back wall. then i set the big piece in the corner and mounted it. From there I went 3' each direction. after I was happy I used my jig saw to cut the center piece to meet the side pieces. I still need to urethane and i have some 3/4 wood molding to put on the edge. Its far from perfect but i think i'll be ok. lot stronger than i expected

Ok I finished the corner bench i didn't think about a back splash as i would need a table saw to do that. Well My sons buddy borrowed his dads and so I went for it. I have a brad nail gun so i glued it and and nailed it from the bottom.
Next I sanded it with 100 grit but i didn't like the edge. I was in HD back when I was doing the work bench and stumbled on to this Iron on veneer in red oak so i bought it thinking i could use it for the bench and changed my mind. Well i used it here. Let me say this I was looking at Bob Heine's thread and saw he used this same product kind of may me feel good. the wife was a bit confused when i ask where the Iron was followed by what are you doing with my iron.

Next was 3 coats of urethane oh and I bought more iron on veneer for the top of the back splash i was going crazy with this stuff :bounce:

I wanted to pull it back from the wall the urethane it so i thought a few paint sticks may help the wood glue keep it together but i quickly found out the glue had seeped to the L brackets and that was out. So we taped it up put some protection on the floor and i got busy took 2 nights.

I bought a wall mount shelf for the TV receiver next is to find a small Audio receiver so i can get rid of that big cd/casset/ am fm tuner. i did think it came out about the same as the work bench.
Also before i put the urethane on I filled the back splash joint with wood filler not sure if i should have done that but i did.
I put the VW microfiche reader on the corner as planned

And to close today's update a night shot :lol_hitti

JC, I can't remember the last time my wife used her iron so I thought I was safe taking it down to the workshop. I banded the sides and a couple of weeks later banded the front. As I was ironing the next to the last piece she came down to the workshop and asked if I had seen her iron (it's normally in a cabinet in my office). Spent a couple of minutes removing a little hot glue. Looks like I'm going to be visiting a thrift store or three.

That iron-on veneer works pretty good but you need to slice or sand off the edge. If you don't, sooner or later you will catch something on it and lift the veneer.

Bob I made the front edge round to try and help this. However on the back splash i did see that as a problem I used a razor blade to cut them off then sealed it with wood glue.
I had no choice but to ask the wife for the iron as I searched all the places I thought it could be. after i asked and then followed her to where it was I was damm why didn't i look there

Your bench turned out freakin' awesome JC.

Mike you have no idea how much that comment means to me Thank you

I had made speaker shelf's from the oak just after the HF work bench. I had the stuff left over so what the heck. I also had put some cheap shelf brackets up that I had laying around just so I could hand a light over the parts washer, So why not :lol_hitti Its so high up that its lite weight only stuff up there .

Just before starting the build of my shop I broke my Race car motor. i won't get into what took so long to get it fixed but it's done. Axel had to approve it before getting it out of the truck.
I then put it in my engine stand so I could set it up to be easy to install and make sure every thing is good. Details as i like to say keep it simple

The main reason i built this shop was for my car ( which i have owned 42 years) getting the motor in and getting it running kind of made it feel complete to me

Shop and car look great JC.

Glad to see that you were able to use your shop for its original intent and you can enjoy the feeling it gives.

To be honest that is the one thing about mine that I actually miss. I miss the feeling of having a race car grace the new shop because I would absolutely LOVE to have a race car being built in my new shop with more room and better tools and equipment than back when I was racing and in my old shop. Unfortunately that is something that will more than likely never happen.

The closest I will probably ever come to that is building bikes or Jeeps but not for competition.

Shop looks great JC, thanks for sharing pictures with us.

Oh my i've been very bad about updating my thread :lol_hitti I think in part it was the PB issue that had me bummed out :headscrat Anyway PB sent out some reasonable deals and i took them up on it at least until I can figure a better way.

I wish I could say we have been busy and we sort of have just throw in a bit of screwing off in the mix :spit:

I got 1 test run in on my race car and found a breather problem that i did not have before. Every July there is a big VW Race in Orangeburg SC cars come from all over and this was the 10 year anniversary. its a big event with cars from all over even a few from the west coast.
even with only 1 test run i decided to take the car we also took #3 sons street car. it was very nice to be able to park the trailer with car on it in the shop.
Axel has grown and has figured out when we are going to leave for extended time and gets sad

One big thing I had promised the wife was a screen room on the house. This was supposed to be done before the shop got started glad she is very understanding . I had a few quotes from different company's and thought all were way to high. The friend that helped me with the shop was by 1 day I mentioned it to him and low and behold he said he knew a guy not far from me that does them it was a much better price its only 2 walls and the most expensive part was the insulated roof. I was getting quotes of 5k not including the concrete. This was less than 4 including the concrete.
whats that saying Happy wife happy life :bounce:

That screen porch came out beautiful. You’re going to get great use out of that for years to come. So when’s when’s the GJFC party scheduled? LOL
