Welcome to the wonderful world of Jeeps. As for a forum, I'll 2nd Off-Road.com.

I'd also suggest that you look at Moses Ludel's book: Jeep CJ Rebulders Manual, 1972 - 1986. It is one of the best reference books you can buy. You'll find a lot of answers in that book in restoring/rebuilding/maintaining your Jeep.

Also, seek out a Jeep-related club in your area. It may be off-road related, but hey, who cares? You can still own a bone stock Jeep and enjoy the club. The biggest benefit is these guys are local and they've been where you're going. You'll do well to listen to them and not reinvent the wheel.

Best of luck, and beware of Jeep-fever.

Oh, and 6768rogues, I'm a sucker for a yellow Jeep. Nice highhood!

The CJ3b was discontinued in the early 60's. My yellow one is a 1966 Jeep CJ5 chassis and axles with a steel replica 3b body. Therefore, it does not say Willys anywhere. Strange, but the original was a Kaiser Jeep, the body plate says Kaiser, and the registration says Willys.

High hood CJ-3B's are some of my favorites. I went and looked at a 1968 model the other day, the last year they made them.

I have had a few 3B’s IMO they are **** ugly! I would however buy one of the Mahindra diesel jeeps. They are new manufacture in India; they licensed the 3B from WILLYS many years ago and still make them.

The 3B actually went to 1968 and allot of them were produced for the Gov't to give away to friendly nations under the mutual defense program. That is a good looking mutt you have there regardless of its origin.

Welcome to the world of Jeeps. It stands for Just Empty Every Pocket, you know. I also own a 1977 CJ 5 with a 258 and a T18 four speed. I have a MC2100 carb and HEI dizzy. It has a 2" Rubicon Express suspension lift and 32 x 10.50 BFG AT's. I use it on my property for duties. It may not be cheaper than a 4 wheeler but, I can drive it to town. It also has a cool factor to it. Jeep Forum is good. Yes, there can be obnoxious people on there but, I learned a great deal there. Good luck and have fun!
