Not looking to spend $1500 on a nice one w/ a hydraulic cylinder and a radius gauge. Yes, they are nice, but not at this point in my life.

I wouldn't call that a tubing bender. I believe it's meant for bending flat and round stock. probably up to 1/2" or so. more with heat.

That’s not a tubing bender it’s a bar bender.

Tubing benders have dies and saddles for the tube to ride in while making the bend so as to not crush the tube.

Pretty much the same thing harbor freight sells, it'll do smaller flat stock and small rounds stock, not tube.

I was planning on adding/making those as needed. I probably could buy individual ones anyhow....just gets spendy for a set.

Saddles can't be reasonably made for that thing. And you'll need the guide also to match the saddle... And the mouth of that won't do tubing of much size.
I have two of them and have used them a bit.
There is no reason to ever try to bend tubing in it.
It will kink, it'll stretch and flatten and be useless.
It is made to EXACTLY put flattening/even pressure across what it compresses/bends/stretches.
Look in the northern catalog(or maybe it's eastwood) and see their bench top tubing bender, in a blow old case for under 150 bucks. It does 1/8 through and inch (I think)

Fair point, the throat is definitely the limiting factor.
I will check it out.

I have the harbor freight version and I guess it’s ok
I have used a real hosfeld bender and this falls far short of the real thing.
You should research the hosfeld and see all that it can do and if that works for you.
If you can weld and fabricate you could also make your own that is heavier or modify this one

This is a tubing bender. I've been using my Pro-Tools bender for 12 years with no issues. Upgraded to the air-over hydraulic cylinder a few years ago and am loving that.

Pretty nice, although spendy. I guess that's the name of the game.

I guess in an emergency you could sand and oil pack(this concoction has a name I have forgotten) seal the ends, and pray for no blowouts.

You can also fill it with the boiling point metal that some here believe is the equivalent of the devils breath....

Not too sure what you're talking about. Casting, then lead/mercury/al or something? Strange.

Cheap Imitation of the Older Hossfeld... Or the Shop Outfitters universal (it CAN do tube by the way) I have a JD2 Model 3 Shop next door has a Model 32, Shop two doors down has a Model 54 (which KICKS *** by the way)

I have a jd2 bender frame I'd part with for the right price. Just the frame and basic hardware, and degree guide, no dies. I need to dig it out and clean it up. It's burried somewhere in my parents garage where I've been storing things.

For working band iron, square or Round Bar they work pretty well, the Harbor Freight one is decent for the $80 less the 20% off coupon. Or 25% off on a holiday... The Hossfeld is a better mousetrap or one of the other older machines like a Diacro or Pexto.

The JD Model 3 bender works well for $310 (if you hunt around you can find I think 5 or 10% off from JD Direct) Dies are what will kill you on benders...
I have a Model 3 with a cylinder and AOH pump (wish I had gone electric May still swap out the AOH for AOE one of these days it is faster) My Hydraulics and mounting hardware all came from JD as well the Cylinder and pump are SPX Powerteam. I have paid for it making random bends for a local shop, I may upgrade to the Model 4 since it uses the same dies, but the Model 32 is negligibly more cost but has some advantages. Like an Anti Springback pin and a dual ratchet pawl, the Hydraulics have the advantage of not having to bolt the thing down. I can roll mine outside and use it if I need the swing room or I can hold the tube and let the bender move around.

I'm trying to remember the model my high school had. That was AOH or manual, worked excellently. Probably not exactly budget, tho. Still haven't came across the same model just googling and searching through pictures.

I've actually got a brake for the 20T press laid out. Christmas Break project?

I went air over hyd with mine. A custom stand turns it vertical and, without all of the hydraulic pumps hoses and tanks it is Very compact and portable. With the reclaimed steel I used and the cost of the jack I have about a 100 bucks into my hydraulic powered bender stand.
