Jerome Started his company The Bergman Tool Co. in Buffalo, New York during the 1st half of the 20th Century. He sold his tools under the umbrella names "BLUEBIRD" & "QUEEN CITY" brands; he is known for his battery Service tools.

Wow after seeing the price from snap-on glad I only paid $2.00 dollars for my battery tool.

Many people did. I have a 1965 vintage puller branded Ken-Tool.

Wow that is a cool looking tool but it comes from the Bethlehem Spark plug Company not the Bergman tool Company; I can see the mistake being they are close in name in the alphabet on the AA web-site.

I used to use those battery pliers and found it's a great way to round off the nut.

They were designed to remove nuts already rounded off. I always tried using a wrench first.

Thanks woody! The really cool thing about these tools is that, although old, they all still work well. The #14 plier isn't the greatest, function, but all of the rest are great.

I found another pair of Bluebird battery pliers yesterday; shown beside the shinier pair that I already had.


They are not marked, aside from U.S.A., but the shape and blue paint on the grips give the maker away.



I like the way they shaped the jaws.






Just for the sake of comparison, I've added the Craftsman for this photo; as well as some Wilde slip joint pliers. (I read that they made the Craftsman examples, based on the cable-style grips).







Of the three examples here, the new ones are my favorite, by far.

Found some Blue Bird battery tools at a garage sale yesterday. The terminal spreader has traces of the original blue paint remaining. Seems like this thread should be in the Vintage section to me.
