I picked up this older Jet 16" Bandsaw at auction a few weeks ago.
Been tinkering with it a bit

Seems that when I do use a vertical saw, I tend to be cutting small pieces, or trimming small pieces that tend to always get sucked down along the blade, or wedged between the (usually) massive factory slot and the blade. WHY does the factory slot have to be SO wide?? And.....usually always made worse by butchery that's taken place, as with the one on this machine.
I made similar plates for my 12" Craftsman years ago and the 14" Delta wood/metal shortly after I got it.
The plate is 3/16 thick Alu. but supported underneath, so I think it's rugged enough.
Ugh! Unsightly and dangerous

Up on the bridgeport table.
I got really lucky it sits flat within
.005 in an 8" circle. No shimming or fiddling needed.

The general idea....

....and rough milling.
The cast iron is not the best to machine.....porous, and "sandy".
Not surprising.

Boring to size......

Retaining screw and 3/32 slot.

Cut the slot with a 3/32 end mill which felt like cheating.
I thought I'd have to set it up on a horiz mill and use a slitting
saw. But I went easy and managed to not snap off the small end mill.
