Does anyone know of rebuild kits for the williams ratchets, I have talked to williams before and found out that if I send my ratchets in they will replace them with newer models but the three I have got were my fathers and I do not want to let them go. Worth more to me to keep not working than parting with. I did talk to a guy at napa one day and he thought he might be able to match up a rebuild kit with another brand but never made it back to that store. Are the kits even still out there or do I need to consider these ratchets box fillers now?

The new models are different so I don't believe a kit from one of them would work. Have you tried taking it apart and cleaning it? If all else fails you can always buy a used one from someone here or eBay and swap out the guts and fix your ratchet and then send back the other one and get a new one.

Here is a rebuild guide that might help; maybe just clean and reassemble! Posters in the thread; seem to indicate that the rebuild kits are not available anymore; maybe check ebay or http://store.harryepstein.com/. Good luck!

wow, Thank you for that link.. Sometime tomorrow I will have to take one apart and give that a try. After looking at those pics of the inside it would be hard for one of those to strip, it make sense that cleaning just might fix it.

The S52 is a round head 1/2" drive ratchet, about 11inch length. It's got dual pawls for 80 clicks. The new version is the S52A, which has 72 clicks.

After examining the catalog, I'm thinking that if the S-52 body is the same as the newer S-52A body, the S-52ARK Repair Kit should drop right in. That's if the body hasn't changed.
