In process of finishing interior of my barn/shop. I have standard round braced electrical boxes. Ordered 4 CanArm industrial ceiling fans that mount with j-hook. I read install instructions before buying them thinking I could rig something up. Went to install them tonight and my plan won't work. Now I am stumped on how to mount them. I only have a scissor lift for another week, 16ft ceilings, so I am under the gun to get them installed.

If anyone has come across this id love to know how you did it.

Something like this would work if I could find someone that has them with fast shipping.

If you have unlimited resources you can Self Insure and do it anyway you want.

If you buy insurance you best do it the way your Insurance Company wants.

I was recently in the exact same situation.
I made mine by cutting & welding the supplied hook to a piece of 1/8 x 1" flat stock. Drilled holes to match the box.

Looked over my insurance policy, & didn't see any exclusions for that, so I'm pretty sure I'm covered [emoji57]

Can't span the ceiling joists with a 2x6 and use J hooks with machine thread bolted thru?

Thinking i need to do something like this. Was thinking of using slotted angle like for hanging garage door track.

Found a solution. Sharing in case it helps anyone else. This bracket replaces the J hook and screws to a standard junction box.

I just went through this same dilemma last week... the solution was way easier than you expect... convert them to a hanger ball. You can buy a kit called a "cathedral canopy kit". It comes with everything you need the ceiling bracket that screws to the box in the ceiling and the ball that goes on the down rod. just unbolt the hanger from the down rod, leave the cover that's on the fan on it, drop the new cover ( yes use both covers) and hanger ball on and put the pin through the bolt hole, pull the ball up and tighten the screw in the ball against the shaft. hang the ball in the bracket and wire the fan tuck the wires up in the box. the cover with the kit has 2 screws that hold it then slide the original cover up against it and tighten the screw in the side.

I bought them at home depot, "cathedral canopy kit" # 232831 , go to there web site and search for it. there site says there no longer available but my local store had 6 left after i bought 2 of them. they were 10 bucks each and made it a simple job.

I'll try to post a picture but i never seem to have any luck doing that on this forum

Picture doesn't show the hardware, but if what you say is true, I would have rather used that.
