I have a Bosch corded and love the thing. My old man had a craftsman that was the cats *** until it died 30 years after he bought it. So that’s really the only thing I can compare it to but I love the Bosch. How its balanced, the handle, the power. I don’t think you’ll go wrong with it, but if you could try out some of your friends Jigsaws that may help you with the decision.

Mafell -> Bosch -> Milwaukee/Dewalt/Ridgid/Makita -> Ryobi -> Everything else.

In that order.

I picked up the Milwaukee D Handle at a pawn store for 80. If I were to buy one new and try to save money I'd go Ridgid or Ryobi. But I have batteries for most brands.

You forgot the Festool Trion, which should go somewhere plus or minus the Bosch.
The only major issue is that Festool doesn't make a steel baseplate for it For cutting metal.

And if your 1590 has a lower blade guide I would put it in the category of ultimate jig saw. :thumbup:

The 1590 does have a lower blade guide, though it is somewhat different than the newer top models. The setup is like a bandsaw where there is a rear thrust roller and a pair of lateral metal guides to stabilize the blade. Not my pic, but it looks like this:

I have a Bosch 1584VS. It is a decent jigsaw but I haven't used it for many years. For metal I use my Fein ASte 638 and for every other material I use my Mafell P1cc. Bosch has never made any jigsaw that comes close to those two.
