I picked up a Craftsman crowntop auto stroller jigsaw at an auction recently. When I tested it, it ran just fine but made a screeching noise when I first pressed the trigger and then made a growling noise as it coasted to a stop. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Well.....it's not the bushings. I removed the front of the saw and the 2 gears and it still makes the same noise. It has to be coming from the motor as there are no other moving parts. Could bad brushes cause a noise like described?
