I am thinking of getting a couple of them ridgid ones, the 48x24 seems to be best for the price.

Throwing miter and cicular saws in there? How bad would it be to store it outside year round In CA. It seems to have weather stripping. So if you have something similar I would like to know if there is condensation or any problem with your tools.

I don't personally have any experience with these, but I see a few in the back of pickups and at local baseball fields. They sit outside year round as far as I can tell. Especially in Cali. If you are worried about condensation, there's got to be a way to slow or stop that all together.

We use them at work. They are outside a lot but not 24/7:365.

Get a golden rod (for gun safes) to install in each one if it will be stationary. If it's going to be in a truck or something you might need to get the rods and plug them in at night or in a power inverter or something. Those basically help prevent high humidity/condensation in gun safes so it should work in one of these

If you are looking at the Rigid ones at HD, see if you can find a scratch and dent one, save some $$. (They will negotiate on the damaged ones) They have a lip inside, they are water tight, just make sure someone cant pick it up and carry it off. I have a big Greenlee one in my barn, it would take a forklift to pick it up, plus I have a logging chain around it and a 6x6.

Had one (Knapp) in the back of a work pickup for years in the snowbelt.
It survived. Contents survived. Eventually, someone else rolled the truck. Pulled the box out of the median. Still survived, just really muddy.

Knaack is the premium as far as I am concerned. Not sure how CA weather will be, but in Maine things stored outside get some light surface rust if not chrome or painted.

The Knaack boxes are the best built of all of them. If stored outside, expect them to rust pretty quickly. The most secure ones use the watchman gen 4 or 5 locking system. I wouldn't keep anything you're afraid to lose in one. Cordless tools have made it very easy to get into any of them.

We just acquired one at the shop the plan is to make a carpentry work box, so all of my buddies and my stuff is good to go wether it's at the shop, in a truck, or at a job. I think if organized properly they can work very well. We will just have to see. I haven't had time to futz around with it they are very cool I'm looking forward to making it, but I perfer pelican cases especially the 1500, 1600, 1660 (being 18"x36") it makes a great tool/jobox I also use a pelican 0450 as a tool box I need a real box lol

We just put a desiccant dryer in our job boxes.

I used something like those in my pelican cases and even tool box they work very well.
