I bought my house is 2010 at the age of 21. 1700 sq ft manufactured home on full basement with attached 24x34 garage. Detached 24x42 dirt floor pole barn. 10x10 shed, 8x12 shed, 8x8 shed, and 12x16 shed. All on 14 acres. Includes electric fenced horse area and the back yard is tillable. Sometimes alfalfa. Last 2 years soy beans. I'm quite settled in now so it's time to make some changes. Finally getting my workshop how i want it. Pictures will follow when i get time but projects are already underway.
My mom named it "Joes garage" because of the frank zappa album lol if anybody remembers that!0d0e5a11141d8a038401bf10652d0330.jpg

I started working at 16 and by 21 a had plenty of trucks, jeeps and toys and cash saved up. My parents are great and let me live with them rent free. I walked into closing with no credit score because I'd never had a credit card or loan before. But i also put $22000 cash down on the house. I'm on schedule to have the house paid off in 4-5 years from now also. I can't wait!

I don't have any good before pics but it was basically an empty post frame garage when i moved in. It connected to the house via breezeway with 2 sliding glass doors. After Almost 9 years is pretty much full wall to wall. I'm cleaning it out and insulating it. Here are some pics of projects and your can see the garage in the background

Oh of forgot to mention about 3 years ago my uncle gave me a truckload of used steel from a barn he tore down. So i lined the bottom of the trusses with visqueen and put up a ceiling

I'm now in the process of insulating the walls. Menards had a sale on r25 rolls. 15"x 18' long. 8 1/2" thick. For $3 per roll. I bought the max limit. So far all i have bought is the visqueen, insulation, and lumber. I got more used mismatched steel from my dad.

Oh yeah i got a couple door insulation kits on sale at menards too. Only r8.3 or something but will be fine for nowae086df674b90df56827319b48a66bf1.jpg04b89dcc335ab3d1991ca1df5a0fa353.jpgcc7dda1aa64f7da1b4dfd89b0ec01a44.jpgc93c2bf2148a58bc8a4bff38bd39fbc1.jpg8f6dc45f966081e9504aebcc394beca0.jpg065f15154e4b278f56e046299eeb5216.jpg604eced74c5b80619b8fbea22f523772.jpg063fa32975833d7d215b1d0991d3a7ff.jpg

Don't see a lot of 30 year olds into Chevelles anymore. I think you're an old soul..lol Is that a Holley injection setup for the Chevelle?
I am an ols soul. My dad was a very old school guy and it was his car. Owned it before i was born. It got parked when they had kids and we got it out when i was @14 and got it running. Father/son project. We never had much money but he loved that car. Drove it every day in the summer after that. He passed away 3 years ago and wanted me to have the car. I stripped it to a bare frame and had it running with a brand new drivetrain in time for my wedding. Dad would have loved it

I dont want to clutter this thread with all the pics of my chevelle build lol. It's a perfect runner/driver with a lot of modernizing. Drivetrain/suspension/brakes are all new. All that's left is body.

Here's an aerial shot of the property and one of the house/garage. I've got a pretty long driveway840cd3924932b407da2e4a1e4b13ce7e.jpgfc27471837a1ed57c9ed03654cd9d50a.jpg

I also plan to air condition, only when I'm out there with a large window unit. I don't want to take up a window so i left a hole in the wall for it. It's Only 800 sq ft inside

I also used the door insulation kits from Menards. 3 years later, they have held up well, and I'm quite impressed with their ability to lower my heating costs. I have two 12x12 overhead doors in my 30x40x12 shop.

Made some progress tonight. Yesterday was 65°F i was outside in a t-shirt. Today it's 30°F and snowing. That's Michigan. The smaller hole next to the window is for a window air conditioner.
The metal is mismatched because I'm using as much used material as possible and that's what was in the pile. Function over form. There was a few sheets of barn red and dark brown i set aside. I'll use those last if I have to. And I'm almost out of white j-channel. But i have a pile of green j-channel that was free. If it bugged me it could always be painted but it probably won't. I don't mind the tan as of now. Adds a little contrast. Oh and the screws I'm using are slate blue same as the ceiling because i got them on clearance at menards. 9a3716c2928893ce2e06da51c8db8ce6.jpg

Nice property and shop! Good to see a responsible youngster taking care of and improving his place. Don't mind posting about your in garage, or house, projects in your thread. We all love seeing what fellow GJ'ers do with their stuff!

I have a window AC/Heater through the wall in my small garage and once it reaches the set temp it barely runs, summer or winter( 323 sq. ft., 12,000 BTU AC, 11,000 BTU heat. You will absolutely love spending time in your shop with the insulation, sheeting and AC!
Love your Chevelle, I have a 1966!

That metal looks great. The PO of my garage used OSB and it looks terrible. I like yours much better.

As usual i forgot to take a before photo but i did some cutting trimming and cleaning behind garage in preparation for another project. A closed in lean to off the back. It was a dog run put in by the previous owner and i don't use it for my dog. I "trimmed" the 3 bushes down the side and cut down one of the pine trees. The other one will probably go next

Congrats on not being a millennial. I’m just over 30 and hate getting grouped into that category. I did about the same as you, bought a place young, paid it off quick. Had a shop at it, fixed it up and added onto it with used materials. It’s nice to live comfortably, not be over extended, and enjoy life. Bust of luck with your projects.

Also Cut the ceiling to raise 3 trusses to make room for a mid rise lift. Probably going with the titan sl-6600

Wrapped the truss in visqueen and plated it in ply. Left a 24"24" attic access. I will blow in insulation later

Got it all beefed up. Cut the original trusses out last night. Ceiling didn't move a hair when i cut them out. Next is electrical for the new lights then insulate the new ceiling part. I made sure the roof structure was overkill sturdy. I'm super happy with it

I've been looking at scissor lifts for a while now and i talked to the guy and he said buy now because prices are going up soon because of the import tariffs. So i did! I did months of research and hands down the best one for the money is the titan sl-6600. The quality is 10 times better than the titan mrl-6000 and just about any other mid rise. This thing is serious beef. I could talk all day about it but I'll try not to! If your thinking about a mid rise scissor lift get one!

And for anybody that has a lift i found an easy way to center the car. Auto leveling laser lol! Set it on front of the car on something centered and point it right down the middle of the lift and it directs you all the way in. Easy peasy

I'm also in the middle of rewiring some of the garage for the upcoming air conditioner and exhaust fan. And also all new lights. Ripped all the old lights down and gave them to a co-worker who just bought a house for his garage. Ordered 2 sets of 12 4' linkable led fixtures from amazon. They are barrina brand which seems to be one of the better amazon lights. I've got 18 up so far and I'm happy. The last 6 will go over the lift area once the ceiling is finished
