If it runs as good as it looks I'd ask $750. If I was buying I'd want it in the $450 range.

Ok, I gotta ask, why get rid of the Johannson for the Clausing?

Ok, I gotta ask, why get rid of the Johannson for the Clausing? The Johannson looks like twice the DP of the Clausing, with the gear head, XY table, head raiser, etc. I have a large Clausing 20" or 22" variable speed drill, would trade it for a Johannson in a heart beat.

Sorry if I'm being pedantic, but this is a pet peeve of mine.
Unique means one of a kind - without qualifiers. Something cannot be "very" unique. It's either unique or it's not.

same here X4

So tedsters, what kind of deal did you give the guy? Did it stay local?
BTW folks, I saw this in person and should have grabbed it. tedsters does beautiful work.
See my response above. Kinda redundant if you have a knee mill.![]()
Yes I did see your response and appreciate your knowledge, but the looks, it really looks nicer than the Clausing. I agree with you that the Clausing may be a better machine.
Careful judging a book by its cover. Well, in my opinion, they're comparable in capacity. Neither is in the same league as a Cincinnati Bickford, or even an old camel back, and neither would be happy drilling holes bigger than 5/8"-3/4" all day long. Suspect both are 3MT, with a better range of speeds for metal work on the Johannson. Neither will work well as a milling machine, so that never factored into my decision. Does the Johannson have power down feed?
My offer still stands, I'd trade my Clausing for a Johannson in comparable condition.
