John Deere L120 lawn tractor

Bought this tractor 2.5 years ago when we move onto 4.25 acres. We cut 3 acres of grass with it and it uses about 1.5 tanks of gas, sometimes a full two tanks depending on the operator and how they cut.

We also bought the 48" snowblower attachment for it. Works like a charm, I can clear a 250ft long driveway in about 2.5 passes, half an hour. Kit comes with rear weights to balance off the blower, and I also bought the tire chains. We've had some massive snowstorms and this thing never let me down.

The best part: it has an excellent beer holder.

Never had any problems with it, only ever needed tune up maintenance. Highly recommended.

We have a LX176 that's 9 years old now. I've spent a LOT of hours on that thing since we got it. We used to mow around 3 acres with it, now we're down to around 2. We opted for the smallest deck (36"), because our ground was uneven.

This year was the first year we had to do more than regular maintenance to it. The coil failed on it (tractor would shut off when warm and not start back up 'til it cooled down). Whopping $100 or so. Oh, and we put new blades on it, since it still had the originals and they had cracked.

We actually have some fairly steep hills behind the house, and that thing climbs them like a billy goat.

I had a John Deere tractor ingest a screw that had worked it's way out of the carb. This happened about a month after the warrenty expired. Chewed motor up pretty bad.

Needless to say it was not covered. It was always serviced by the dealer and they did try to get it covered but it was all for not.

Nothing runs like a Deere!

However some of John Deere's newer products sold in the big box stores are not up to the “Green” standard’s that have made John Deere such a great equipment builder over the years.

I own what they call a sub-compact model 2210. It is a 4-wheel drive 3-cylinder diesel power tractor that I just cannot say enough good about. It can do anything its‘ big brothers can do,, just smaller bites at a time.

i Love my L100, its going into its third year of use this summer.
i have 2 acres of lawn and also have a 4x4 utility trailer that i use to carry a multitude of things around my property.
always works great, and just wants reg. maintenance.

Hmmm, mine didn't come with a cell phone, just a free vinyl cover that has had it after 2-3 yrs. But my garage just got finished last month so it lasted just long enough.

I got the cover too. And a hat. And a diecast tractor. Never used any of them for anything. LOL!

I've been using the tractor again to plow snow this winter (we got first snowfall third week of October :O ), still going strong. Needs new plugs though, I can tell from the idle it's getting cranky. The snowblower attachment has two downsides: it tends to steer the tractor a little too much, which I think comes down to poor design of the skids. Should've asked a Canadian to design them. I might modify them with the MIG somewhat before next winter. The other thing is you have to be careful when moving over uneven terrain because if you're tall like me, the handle on the right side has the reach to give you a really nasty whack on the kneecap! (ask me how I know). Again, comes down to poor design. Don't get me wrong though, I love the blower and would buy it again.
