John Deere xref part numbers

I need an engine control cable for a walk behind John Deere JS63. Control cables are usually a pretty easy part to source at a reasonable price. I am having trouble with this one. The price is north of $45 (even on ebay). I know this machine was made by Husqvarna/AYP. Is there some resource that may x ref between the two brands? Is there a site that caters to JD aftermarket parts? P/N in question is GC00036. thanks in advance.

Thanks, have you ever purchased from this network? Yes? How did it go? I am leaning OEM.

I just had a bad experience with a Toro aftermarket cable. Good price did not fit with out filing the z fitting. Then the damn thing broke.

I have no problem buying from a dealer but JD prices are excessive compared to Toro, Honda etc.

I was hoping to find the alternate part number that Sears or AYP/Husqvarna used and get the exact same part for a reasonable OEM price. I did find a number on the cable sheath but can not find anything relevant by going to the usual parts sources.

It is 441781, which looks like an old AYP number. It must be discontinued.

sorry, no, have not used this source before
I understand about aftermarket parts experience, but they seem to have good reviews
I guess sometimes you have to ask yourself, I can save $23 in this case
but is it worth it ?

J D is well known for keeping replacement parts close to their vest
replacement parts are an inportant part of their income
like Cat the machines are used in poor conditions and are often broken

if the cable you are looking for is the common wire in a spring type you should be able to find a replacement that fits at any Ace store
I found I liked the the knob on the replacement I bought better than the factory one

I am not sure I follow you. Are you saying you can buy generic cable materials at ACE? Can you post a link or pic of the item(s) you are referencing?

I have purchased 1/16 braided wire cable before and fished it though the old sheath. If the old sheath is in good conditon you can reuse it. Fish in the new braided cable and clamp the end fitting s back on. In this case the wire is so rusted in the original sheath it is not coming out. Doing this is not an option. You can do this if the end fittings are in good condition and there is enough exposed wire so you can clamp/crimp the end piece on with out any interference with its range of motion.

That sounds like a manual choke cable. I have never seen them in a hardware store around where I live. Good to know they are out there.

try a small engine or landscape outfit
I have seen them from 18 inches to 6 feet long
