Projects are awesome... Good to hear the floor heating worked out for you.. I imagine once the ceiling is done it will be a bit more efficient.. The cans incorporated into vice stand are unique! Thanks for bringing the thread back to life!

Thanks guys.
I will eventually add some more insulation. I don't think it will take long to pay for itself considering the price of propane.

I just happened to be drinking beer when I fabbed up the vice stand!

I will post some more pics when I get back from my trip.

Great shop, trucks and projects. It has me thinking I should be looking for a MOG.

Glad to hear you made it through the cold snap. It hit parts of New Mexico hard. That was the coldest I remember it being in much of the state. (I grew up in ABQ.)

Some new parts.
The motor is a 383 with vortec heads. It should be good for about 400 HP.

That's the combo I run in my '67 (for now). It came with a dyno-sheet right around there, so I can tell you it's very doable. That combo really makes my 5/4 ton scoot, in your ride it should be a fun ride once you get it in there!

Heat is from Radiant Tubes that hang from the ceiling, not tubes in the slab.
Adding a ceiling and blowing in the attic will help a LOT.

Just when you think you've seent he biggest shop on GJ, someone comes in right behind and builds one BIGGER! Love it! That place is awesome! Love your toys too.

The last pictures show the sealing tape that is pealing off!
The barn crew ran out of the P2000 spec tape and used a generic brand that doesn't stick. Fortunately is was only used on about 10% of the seams. I am going to order the right tape and fix it myself. The electrician has a scissor lift, so it should be a breeze.

I know it's long past, but I'd hamper a guess that your concrete is responsible for that tape falling off like that. The humidity concrete puts off is crazy. I wouldn't bother ordering anything. I'd go to the local big-box and pick up a pack of tuck-tape or venture-tape. They are the same thing, both red sealing tape, but I have a lot of experience with 'sealing', and if you can get the venture brand, get it. Damn near will peel the skin of your fingers.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the complements! I haven't checked this post in quite a while.........too busy working in the shop!:D

The only thing new shopwise is that I put up pallet racking for storage.
I have been using the **** out of the lift. I wish I would have had one 20 years ago!

Here are some pics of my latest project. My old 71 needed to get out of the 80's and into the new century. I put a 4/6 drop on and some new wheels. They are Showwheels Streeters 20x10 and 18x8 with 295/45/20 and 255/50/18.

The first pic is a before pic ( truck has looked like this since being painted in 1991).

I should have set up a temporary paint booth, but I was in a hurry......and tired of sanding! I don't think I got too much overspray on anything. Next time I am going to build a plastic tarp paint booth!

Super nice shop, ranch vehicles (love 'em), and trucks.

Why build a tarp paint booth? Just look for a paint shop that goes under, salvage theirs and put it in the shop!

In summary: Wow. Just, wow.

I would love to have a paint booth, but it would be wasted on me.....I don't have the patience to do it properly.:dunno:
Plus, I've got a couple of friends that do paint and body work.:willy_nil

Yeah, I understand the lack of patience thing! Painting my cabinets by hand took mine to the limit and then some.

Friends that can paint is a fantastic thing!

Where are you finding the German and Austrian trucks? I can't imagine too many people in rural Kansas drive around in those (Father was born and raised in Cuba, KS so I know what rural KS is like!).

The pinzgauers are swiss military surplus. I got two from a buddy in Texas and one from a guy in Denver that was importing them. The unimog was purchased off E-bay. I'm going to sell the pinzgauers in a year or two. I'm tired of working on them.:wtf:
I'm close to Kansas...........NE New Mexico!:bounce:

Thanks
John

I just came across this thread. Awesome shop! And really, you are one very blessed man: huge acreage, fabulous privacy, lots of amazing vehicular toys, a monster man cave, and a wife that lets you have it all and have the time to enjoy it. Wow. Well done!!

Thanks Don~

I'm pretty sure yours is bigger and way cooler!

You need to get to work on your 31.......I'm leaving mine like it is. I did have the seat recovered a while back, but that was all it needed ( i think )

I need to post up some more pics of the changes I've done in the shop, but after looking at yours......It would be a waste of time.:dunno:

Not a waste of time at all sir... you have a great plot of land and nice toys (of every kind) to explore it with!! Great thread :)

Any reason for the selection of only foreign work trucks and not maybe a 5- or 7-ton? just curious, that Unimog and pinzgauers are insane

and with the amount of snow you seem to get, maybe add a set of these as your winter project...

K2,
I had a buddy with those on his utv ranger. It did get get around good, but lost about half its speed and over half of the turning radius. It was still fun!

The mog and a front end loader get around pretty good!:3gears:
