Last summer I went to use my rotary laser level and had all sorts of problems with false alerts from the detector making it essentially useless. I figured it got dropped or whatever so I purchased a replacement at $130. Right out of the box that one did the same thing. I contacted customer service got bounced around between 4 people asking the same scripted questions over and over in an exchange of no less than 20 emails
They determined in the end that bright LED lighting was likely causing interference and maybe/maybe not their higher end detector at $250 would be better. They asked me to send back my two detectors for testing and honestly I was so over it at that point I did not follow up and figured I would just buy the better one next time I needed it and see if it worked.
Today, nearly half a year later, I get a package, opened it up to find a upgraded receiver. No packing slip or explanation, just a plain box with a receiver in it.
So weird...

Not the same thing exactly but I was looking for a recoil spring on a S&W rifle of mine, I emailed their support and they mailed me a spring with no discussion or anything. I only gave them a model number no serial either. I can't decide if I really like that it was easy or really hate that they didn't ask me anything.

Sound's to me like they were trying to the the best with what they had to work with. :dunno:

It's not like a pandemic came along and fucked literally everything up.

Personally I'd be thrilled to get that package.

I had a really good experience with them. I had a level, that one of the liquid ampules broke. Replacements where no longer available. They sent me a whole new level, to replace it.

I had an issue with the detector, worked only up and not down or the other way around with my Stabila during the warranty period.
Send it in a few days later I got a new one.
That's why you buy Stabila. Some things in life are simple. Sawzall = Milwaukee, Levels = Stabila. Why complicate things.
