I have can of paste wax (I think it's Minwax though and a can of Briwax). I used it a bit for furniture to get a bit of the luster back, but that was a good 6 years ago. Sounds like you guys are using it more for metal?

Honestly, paste wax doesn't do much of anything as far as a wood finish protection. Sure, it will fill in little scratches and nicks, but that's about it. I haven't done much woodworking lately, but even if I did, I don't see the huge need for it. You always just make your own stuff if you had to.

Got it. It helps to be more articulate unless "woodworking cast iron" is a new entry in the dictionary. As I have already said, I wax my TS and other CI tables frequently. Just wasn't familiar with that description.

I had the fastest toboggan on the hill when I was a kid. Really fast when the snow turned to ice. I probably had 10 layers of moms Johnson’s wax on it.

Got a one pound can of MinWax today because I can't get my favorite SC Johnson's paste wax....
At least the can is yellow...

I’ve been using paste wax on my Delta Unisaw for years. This thread prompted me to check the owners manual. Is says use Top Cote. So I looked up Top Cote and it led me to this.
I’ll buy it when my paste wax runs out. Don’t hold your breath.

I see old cans of Johnson's wax at estate sales all the time. Just bought one that should last a lifetime.

I prefer an all carnauba automotive wax, never cared for johnsons. Either mothers pure carnauba, no silicone or renegade wicked, meant to protect metal.

I have a can of Johnson’s, I just got it within the last year or so. I wish I would have known they were discontinuing it.
I also have a can of Howard’s that works pretty good too. I see it all the time in junk shops. The nice thing about the Howard’s is it smells good, like citrus.
I use the Johnson’s for all my cast iron surfaces and the Howard’s gets used a lot on any wood that is meant to slide. Wood drawer slides are a prime example.

I think SC Johnson's created their own problem.... A can lasts too long...
