Joining black pipe for air

I am running some black pipe in my attic for air and have about a foot of space between what was already there and a new section that I added. Is there a safe way to join these together with some sort of rubber hose between the two? The pipe is 3/4 and is threaded so would be able to put some barbs on and use some sort of hose just not sure what would be the best and safest.

Thanks, Kerwin

umm you could use a straight coupling and long ******, plus a union to make things easy. there is no sense in running pipe to only have a weak point in the attic of all places.

you want the top two really, and a straight coupling. you should be able to get a pipe ****** up to a foot long easily, but you may need a shorter one

nate beat me to it

Part of my problem is that one side is higher than the other and I didn't want to put in to many turns

Not sure why you want to use rubber hose to connect two pipes together. I used a 2ft piece of 3/4" hydraulic hose to connect my compressor to the iron piping in my shop. Its rated at 3000psi, oil resistant, threaded at each end and cost @$30.00 .It also helps isolate the compressor vibration from the piping.

Although I agree Hydraulic hose is the best, I don't think there's much wrong with a piece of 3/4inch airline with cinch-unions on either end....Many have them on from compressor to pipe, plus from pipe to hose reels.

I concure....plus you get the advantage of decoupling of noise....

You can buy premade hoses at HF for the above purpose.....

Another option would be the braided metal flex hoses usually used to connect your compressor to hard piping to reduce vibration. They have pipe thread ends in various sizes and are intended for use with air pressure. Available through McMaster-Carr, Graingers, TIP, etc.. Chip.
