I just laid vinyl flooring in on room, the adjoining room is tile. I need to span 10 feet for an oak transition. any suggestions on joining material like this?

You just meaning how to secure it down? This will lap over the tile and reduce down to the vinyl floor?

I would generally recommend some brad nails to secure it down but you could use a good construction adhesive (been liking OSI brand or PL lately, liquid nails is garbage) and weight it down while it sets. Brads are less permanent but won't work if this is over concrete unless you drill and install dowels to nail into.

Sounds like you're asking how to splice two pieces of that transition together since they only come in 8' lengths and you need 10'.

Depends on what tools you have. A 45deg bevel at the splice with a nail on either side (or thru the overlap) could work to keep the splice tight.

Good point, I misread...

Any joint won't really be that strong. We typically just **** joint those.

I stopped at a local lumber yard , they have a Millwork shop and will run an 12 foot piece, a little more $ but worth it , $45 in labor plus $1.5 / foot, reasonable.
