Oh, I really messed up. I've been working for years to figure out what to do to get my garage cleared out, and finally heard about a good deal on floor model wooden sheds, going fast. So we buy two 8x8s, get them delivered, and get ready to lay out a framework to fill with gravel to set them on.
Township calls, I forgot to get the zoning permit for a shed - not a big deal, just a $30 fee. Go down, talk to them - that's where the first real problem surfaces. We're only allowed ONE shed on the lot, up to 200 sq. ft. - but under 120 sq. ft only needs a zoning permit, over needs a building permit.
So, my genius, spur-of-the moment decision is that we will have ONE 8x16 shed; in short, we'll join the two 8x8s together. Township guy says thats OK, but after the zoning permit comes in, I'll need to sketch it for the building permit.
Second real problem - the sheds are two different models (i.e., deluxe and premium). One has vinyl siding, one has "smart panel" sides. The roofing shingles are 2 different colors, and the windows are two different styles. My plan is to strip off the sheathing/vinyl, strip the shingles, and bolt them together back to back (so the peak of the roof is one continuous line). Then, I'll make sure the studs of the shared wall line up, by adding new ones on one shed. The shed will be in the back yard, so it doesn't have to be cosmetically perfect, but I'm trying to plan ahead and avoid problems. It looks like I'll have to trim the roof on each, since there's roughly a 1.5" overhang at each end. And I expect I'll end up doing a 10x20 gravel bed, held in place by 4x4s pinned w/ rebar.
