I desire to build some 30-36 inch deep shelves in my garage with 3/4" plywood. I am looking for some L shaped metal brackets that don't cost an arm and a leg. The largest I can find are 22-24 inches. I am open for other suggestions or solutions.

Thanks,

Mark

I built a frame from unistrut, bolted it to the wall, one side is in the corner so attached to two walls, the other end hangs from a chain

For anything more than cardboard boxes full of foam peanuts you have to have a brace between the horizontal vertical supports.

You can probably use cut your plywood about 6" past the end on the bracket, but the back side of the plywood need to be through bolted (small carriage bolts would be good) and the front edge of the plywood need a piece of 1x3 glued to the bottom to prevent the plywood from sagging in between brackets. Actually, gluing some 1x3 parallel next to the bracket all the way out to the leading edge of the plywood is a good idea !

I doubt you'll find any L-brackets that deep. Anything that deep would need triangulation.

As mentioned earlier in this thread- try Unistrut.

Some 45s and 90s will get you going pretty good.

Thanks for the advice and guidance. I ended up purchasing heavy duty L type brackets from Rockler. They were expensive, but they will last my lifetime without the need for any tweaking down the road.
