I search of an SAE jumbo wrench set. Won't be used much at all but I do want something worth buying. I also want a complete set, no 6 pc sets. Anyone have any suggestions for a 10 pc or larger set? 1 5/16 through 2 in sizes. Thanks in advance.

There is one pawn shop near me that usually has several Williams or Proto jumbos and I can usually get them for $10-$15 each. I don't have a complete set yet, but am accumulating them one or two at a time.

If the Klutch wrenches from Northern are the same as the previous "Northern" wrenches with a different name on them they should be much nicer than the generic wrenches that Agri-Supply, HF and other sell.

Picked up a Northern 1-3/4" a few years ago and was very impressed with the fit & finish for the price.

I bought a "Northern Tool" brand 1 1/16 before they introduced Klutch. It has been A+ for me so far. The Klutch looks to be the same wrenches with a different name.

I've got a 7pc sidchrome set up to 1-1/2 then singles up to 2. Fairly complete set Pretty sure they are rebranded Proto (or maybe Mac) if you're not in Australia. So perhaps look at those brands or maybe you can find someone that imports sidchrome?

Really solid feel and great quality, mid range cost

Any of the import wrenches should fit the requirements, unless you are using them with a hammer, the wrenches should survive fine. If you are in no rush, used USA wrenches can be sourced, but rarely in sets. I have both cheap ones and snap on wrenches, the snap on ones are definitely nicer, but I paid more for one wrench than an entire set of imports.

They are good wrenches but I am a fan of full polish so I like Tekton better. I also generally prefer Taiwan manufactured to India. Certainly, ask Dennis what he can get from Toptul. I think they are satin finish. If you have time to do the pawn shop hunting thing that many people on here enjoy I am sure you can eventually build a great set of older USA made wrenches.

If you want them delivered to your door now then Tekton or Toptul is the way to go with the decision primarily based on finish. For much cheaper you can get raised panel but I personally detest them. I am not sure Tekton are exactly "long pattern" but there are long enough.

I should point out the old Tekton linked above are made in India and are raised panel. The new full polish are much higher quality but more expensive.

How about Sunex? I don't have any Sunex wrenches, but I just saw this on Amazon:
Sunex 97010 Jumbo Combination Set, 10 Piece -- $142.99
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F3I216K/?tag=atomicindus08-20
I know GJ members have recommended Sunex impacts socket sets many times.
Hope this helps.

Sunex sockets are made in Taiwan and I am very happy with mine. Sunex wrenches are made in China and do not seem to get the same level of accolades that the sockets do.

I have seen a set of large combinations and individual sizes up to 2" at Case IH tractor dealerships. They are polished, made in Taiwan and are a long pattern handle, about the length of a Snap-on or Proto

The set in the photo is from 1 1/16" to 1 1/2"

What brand are the double box ends in the pic?

I had a mix of Proto and Asain combo wrenches with a few Euro DOE mixed in.

For hydraulic work I found the shorter to be more used than the long. Space wasn't always good on the tractors.

But if the long combos are the better choice for your work, go with Proto or the lesser priced Proto-ish style stuff. We never had a problem with any.

I have that 6-piece Klutch set from Northern Tool. Used a few of them on Trailer Hitch ball nuts. I got them real tight.

They work great. The finish is fine for me.

I've never seen a set with the wrench sizes you are looking for, so singles may be your only choice. In the 2 or 3 times I've priced singles vs sets there really wasn't much price difference. I was shopping USA produced industrial brands.

You may want to give a look at the Williams tool line at Tools Delivered: http://www.toolsdelivered.com/SAE-Combination-Wrench_c_2714-1-1.html

They offer both USA and Taiwan made wrenches. To take a 2" satin chrome combination wrench as an example:

Williams 11164 | Satin Combination Wrench 12-Pt, 2in. $ 57.00 Taiwan

Williams 1190 | Satin Combination Wrench 12-Pt, 2in. (USA Made) $ 94.47 USA

The 2" choices at HJE are well over $100 for Wright and SK, which is probably the going rate for domestic products of this size.

Zoro has Proto in 2":
Satin Chrome $ 102.99
Black Oxide is 4 cents cheaper at $ 102.95

As stated above, service wrenches are about 1/4 the price but are open end only and short.

That is a very good question. I bought them before I bought my Gearwrench set. The listing says KTC made in Taiwan but if you try to research them you won't find any information and that Ebay store seems to be the only source for purchase; at least in the US.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/0-Degree-12...638603?hash=item569ff2370b:g:4r4AAOSw8-tWZySr

I liked them because they were the only set that didn't include duplicate sizes. I checked the broaching on each one and they were accurate.

I paid around $100 for them when the Gearwrench ones were $250. Now the Gearwrench small set can be had for less than $100 and the big set is $150. So that is the better deal now if you need a full set. If you just need 1 or 2 these will work great.

I truly believe the jumbo Sunex wrenches are the exact same as Harbor Freight. I do own a set of larger metric polished Sunex wrenches which are very nice.

I've had a set from TSC FOR 20 years. They been great for what I paid for them. A couple of them have been " modified" for restricted access situations. Lol. They have still held up

I think Tekton looks like a good value. Now to find someone who has the 10 pc SAE 19621 full polish set available for a decent price.
