So I searched around and saw them mentioned, but no real info. I carry jumper cables but they are of no good if I cant find someone to jump me. I know harbor freight sells jump boxes but I am not sure they are the greatest, however snap on sells one too that is quite expensive. Does anyone have any info on any jump boxes that are decent quality for a decent price? Or are jump boxes even that good for a just incase type thing?

Good question. I'm in the same boat. Eager for the replies, because the ones we have had at work have not held up at all

Any of the Solar brand pacs are great and reasonably priced. I have had my 12/24 truck pac for 10 years now, and it still works great.

I like the schumacher ones the best. Their newest uses an agm gel battery so it should last much longer in the trunk.

My AC Delco branded jump box has been flawless over the last 5 or 6 years I have had it. I've started a car 3 or 4 times off of it and there is still reserve power.

Just buy a large battery box and build your own. Use a Oddeyse battery, add 2 heavy duty 12vdc cig. lighter plugs w/switches that light up (LED) and any other connection you need all fused of course. I think it would be the best. I run dual batteries in my 73' Scout II, F-350 and will do same with 76' Scout II and CJ5. Then use battery seperator like the Wrangler one or Painless Wiring ect. And your jumpers will hook up in front by the bumper so you don't need to pop the hood.

Thanks, JASTECH

My coworker has a Mac branded JNC300. Works great and it's lightweight.

If that's not enough to start something, I have another coworker that has a JNC 660. I don't like lugging that around though.

I'd recommend both of them.

I have a Solar, works great, looks identical to the jnc except for the color, won't jump a dead diesel, but what will?

I have a Canadian Tire one. 700A. Ten years old, works perfectly. Starts a car much easier than my big rolling charger/booster.

my buddy next to me at work has a hf one. it works out ok. we use it mainly as a maintainer when doijg compression test or pcm reprograms. we jumped a few cars with it nothing over 600 cca though as we work at honda. anything bigger like trucks etc i would get a solar.

If using in a shop setting I have always hated using jump boxes. I MUCH prefer using a home made solution. Where i'm currently at we use a basic hand truck with a normal car battery attatched to it. We have some nice flexible welding style 2/0 gauge cable with clamps like this that work awesome even with gm side terminal batteries. Taken from an old broken battery load tester.

Tons of power, much easier to move, better longer leads and better clamps. Instant starting power even with zero assistance from the vehicles battery.
