Had some real cold weather recently, haven't been able to paint the rest of the garage. 69's are around the corner and should have it completed next week!! Can't wait. I am doing the vynil 5" red tape, so I have to wait 3 weeks or so before I can apply.

Have made some progress over the last few days. Painting is officially done!(minus where the garage track and motor mounts to ceiling, will get to once everything else is put up and I can actually have room to do it).

Today I started on some shelving so I can get some boxes put up and start the organization! These shelves were in the garage when we moved in. I took them off the back wall and I am mounting them on each side of the garage, above the tracking for the garage door.

Started by cutting the 6' pieces down to 16 1/4" (need a total of 6)

Making some progress...Took a little longer as the blade is dull. Didnt have time to go get another.

Basically both sides look like this at the moment.

I do not have any heavy duty wall anchors, so I will pick some up tomorrow. The two I got up, both lined up with studs. I believe the centers will line up on studs too, but I will mark those out once the out sides are finished up. I certainly could make each mount line up with a stud, but I am a little OCD when it comes to things being symmetrical...Even just using these shelves is getting to me as the back wall will have wood shelves. But these are free and will match from side to side so all is well.

Hopefully in the next few days I can start getting the place in order. I need to make a Box Joint jig for the table saw so I can finish up my monitor stand for the office. Will post pics once done.

So, the vinyl was a no go. It was far to thin and you could also see the grey paint through the vinyl. So, will need to paint that soon.

However, started on the upper rear shelving. Few pics to show where I currently am.

And with the front span of 2x4's doubled up, screwed and glued.

Will cut and get the cross braces done tomorrow, then will get the decking cut and in. Won't have much weight up there, so hoping I won't need a center brace(to ceiling or offset to the right side, along side of where bench will be.

Made some progress...Spent far to long and far to much paint on this red stripe....Next wall, I am actually going to do the top white, the red stripe then the gray bottom, instead of white top, gray bottom and rep stripe. The red took forever to cover the gray. It may actually still be slightly visible, but I leave tomorrow for 10 days and its going to be getting much colder, so I wanted to get the frog tape off the wall, since I have put a number of coats of paint on it. Just a few crappy pics. When I get back, I am going to do the 4ft LED install, so I will have better light at night.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving week! I am not sure how much I'll be on the boards over the next 10-12 days.

I went through this same exact thing when I did our town house garage many years ago. I mistakenly put the gray paint up too high so you could see the gray under the red stripe... I think it took something like 8-9 coats of red before you couldn't see the gray. It was very annoying.

The next time I made sure that there was nothing but white for where the red stripe was going to go just so I wouldn't have to go through that again...lol

Garage looks great! I love how the red stripe goes UP, it's a nice change and really looks awesome!

I put some temp pieces up top until I can get to the store to get the actual plywood. Got a bunch of stuff up off the ground...Omg it's so amazing to have some space back already.

Next is getting the top to the bench sorted out and put together. Ready to get tools sorted and put away. And I need to get this drill press back together!!

Lookin' good!

Noticed in your old post you were cutting the shelf supports with a hacksaw, also noticed you have a compressor (nail gun). Not sure how big the compressor is, but if it's not tiny, you should pick up a cheap cut-ff tool from Harbor Freight: http://www.harborfreight.com/air-to...s/3-in-high-speed-air-cut-off-tool-69473.html I use mine all the time, it's great, can't believe I lived without one before. And only $8!!!

Ha, yea. I actually have a smaller cutoff tool, but at the time I did not have any cutoff disc's. Was impatient I guess :) also, I believe when I started cutting them one day, it was pretty late.

Even with the wood shelf not being 100% complete yet, I have some temp wood up there, and the amount of space I've gained already is amazing!

Was able to put my old craftsman 103.23140 drill press together and get her running.

Also Colin, to bad you are so far away. I have a b17 bottom end for sale locally.
Did you used to have a GSR? Or just ended up with a block somehow? I actually have an ITR engine in the car right now which replaced the b17a that threw a rod while at Buttonwillow. I did pick up a spare b17a swap around a year ago as a spare though, it was too good of a deal to pass up.

Had a 1991 LS(also a 92ls, 94ls, and 00gsr) , I was going to swap it into. But sold car before I got to it, I had a full swap, but over the years sold everything else off, this is remaining.

At some point, I'm going to buy an itr. Had many friends with them and it's such a great car. That or another s2000.

Getting garage squared away, and apart of that is fixing this table saw layout. It's shaped like a lower case t, I want a rectangle, so it fits better.

Basically, took it all apart tonight. Will be putting motor below as opposed to behind. I will lose the angle cuts, but I've never used it. I'm wanting to do alot of finger joints, so it'll work out well.

This is how it will sit now.

Got the saw frame off(took cast iron off too, but no pics), got a ton of sawdust and 30+ years of junk off. Widened the tracks an inch and then centered them on the base. Then reinstall the saw body, than blade/top assembly. Will need to make a metal bracket on the rear to keep the blade from tilting I think. But, tomorrow I am going to try and get the bottom tray and motor setup squared away. Once this is complete, it will help a ton with arranging everything.

One other thought for the red stripe you want--why not use some flat trim like a chair rail painted red? No show thru of the gray and it adds some visual interest as well.

Thanks dubbers, I recall your build was one of the first few I looked at.

Ive detoured slightly, but it's all in the name of making the single work :) I love Wood working, so this table saw adjustment is pretty big and worthwhile in terms of making its footprint smaller.

Subscribing to this. Your shelves above the garage door tracks would be perfect for me too. Nice work overall!

Maybe today I can squeeze this out. Need to mount motor on bottom shelf, cut slot on top so belt can make it down to motor. Need to also configure a dust collection option. Which will require me to cut out a section inside the saw frame area with a jig saw. No biggie, but wanted to get to in position first, so I can get that market out.

Thank you!

Once table saw is done, I'll actually really be able to start getting things going on the organization side. Need it done, so I can get wood cut for other projects as far as organization goes. But, all in time all in time.

Photos to come, as uploader isn't working. But, saw is pretty much done. Apart from cleaning the top and using some 000steel wool on the motor cover, I think she is done.

Next!!
