Hello from Oklahoma everyone, first post. Searching the garage sale part of FB, and found this Kennedy Style 1018 cantilever tool box. Lady wanted 28 bucks, but took 20. Drug it home and cleaned it up a bit.9c03663221e6092302378c575f0428c9.jpg35973a0566a85868852bcbc7a0a6e185.jpgf10eb2bed257b098b743a0d2677dfdbb.jpg845b15925e1a7d0dc807e22701240305.jpg55961c949a776c9bcf02a1b614e3c450.jpg

Haha! She actually was not even there. Messaged me saying it was on her porch and to leave a 20 if I took it!

Nice box! Most old Kennedy cantilever boxes I see are beat up and/or rusted.

Actually was looking for a small beginner box for my grandson, think this one is a bit much for a 2 year old though. He has shown lots of interest in tools and nuts and bolts, so I started him a beginner tool set from stuff I have no use for or duplicates of. So far he has a socket set, a ratcheting nut driver and bits, various wrenches and screw drivers, pliers, and a few other odds and ends. As he gets older and less likely to lose things, he will inherit the better stuff. When I am out tinkering in the garage, he is right there soaking it all up!

Nice score! I'm a hug Kennedy fan!
It's great for organizing small tools. I bought an identical one from a widow woman 35 years ago. I use it exclusively for taps, drill bits and specialized drill bits.

These boxes were used during WW2. Here is a snippet from the Navy Air Force catalog and my collection of early Kennedy cantilever boxes.

Very nice, and welcome to GJ. I've got three Kennedy boxes, but not a cantilever.

Good job on nurturing your grandson's interest in tools and working with his hands.

$20? Well, you might not know this, but he highest praise you can receive around here for finding a good deal is: "you ****!" Well, you ****.:D

I have one, handed down from my father, that he used as a young man in his 20's, with a homemade wooden "trolley" to drag it around ... meaning that box and trolley has to be 65 years old or better... and it's still my daily go-to box and a rockstar. I agree... go back, give the nice lady the other $8, and thank her profusely.

Welcome to the shop... And yes... you ****! :D
