Just added a new garage

I just moved into this house a few months ago. I lost a lot of storage space when I moved from my last house. My wife and I debated for several months over what to do. We were paying $84 a month for a storage unit and that’s just throwing money away. We decided on adding an 18 X 24 garage to the house. I got really lucky my neighbor is a electrician and a DIY guy like me. He did 90% of the wiring for me and have helped just about evert part of the build. The worst parts have been dealing with the utility companies on every aspect of having anything done.

One question, why is the driveway cut like that? Did the city or vilage not allow you to expand the driveways width at streets entrance?

That was the goal, I wanted it too look like it built that way. I didn't want that scrub look of an add on.

The addition looks great. I would have gone a little bigger ,but you can't beat having two garages.

Trust me I wanted a 40X60 but the county and my wife wouldn't go for it! Each 2 foot in width was about 2K more. So I settled with the 18 X 24.

Looks really nice.

The codes are whatever the width of the driveway at the sidewalk has to match on the curbs. So I would have had to redo the street side; and have the county redo it and pay for it. I wanted the driveway at the sidewalk to be at least 2 inches if not 4. I'm afraid the tip will break off in the future.

That's my 68 Chevy II. I didn't do the main framing part, that is beyond my abilities. I have never framed up anything so I wasn't sure what to do on that. That and being AD USAF and new to the area I don't have any local friends to elp with the parts I don't know.
