Hi, Brand new to this site. Have known Ryan for quite a while thanks to the Jalopy Journal (AKA - The HAMB !). I am very much a Gear Head. Lots of old cars and trucks with many a dream that may never be realized.
For this web site I am on a fact finding mission to discover the possibilities and legalities to contruct both a house and garage based on Seagoing containers. I got in to more details on my profile but here are a few of the questions I am working on.
(1) Is there any legal/code problems to build a house and a garage with these containers ? I am will be doing this on a 2 1/2 acre property near Wickenburg Az.
(2) Has anyone done anything similar (why recreate the wheel . . . ) ?

Good to be here and looking forward to making new friends.

Here's an article I found about the subject:
http://green.yahoo.com/blog/daily_green_news/8/twelve-amazing-shipping-container-houses.html

If you google "shipping container house" there's tons of results. I remember seeing an awesome show a couple years ago about a family that built a massive home out of containers. They made two stacks of them with a large space in the middle - each container was a bedroom, and the middle area had a huge steel roof that spanned the width of the two towers and functioned as the living space. Really cool stuff.

EDIT: found it:

Hey no problem, at one point I was considering buying a piece of land and building an "alternative" home like that so I have all of my old links on non-normal pre-fab houses and similar stuff (like container houses).
