Just found the forum, very nice!
Anyways, we just moved into a new house (Moved because of military) and have gone from a house with an attached two car garage and a 45x 30 detached garage to one with a tiny two car only.
I ****** well miss my extra space!
Anyways, been here about 3 weeks and just starting to make the garage into a useful area. It started off as just a big empty box, but nicely insulated and finished in painted drywall.
It's still full of assorted "moving" clutter and I'm still building the cabinets/benches, so please excuse the mess:
I'm building the cabinets out of 5/8 MDF, the bench is 2x4 and 3/4 MDF. I'm a reasonable carpenter, but no cabinet maker. Still, these are strong, square and good enough for the garage. Plus, I've only got 150 bucks into the whole smozzle so far. I still have enough wood to build another bank of cabinets on the other side of the window and doors for the lot. Another sheet of 5/8 will cabinet in the under beanch area.
The compresor will be enclosed pretty much where it is. At the other end of the bench will be a a 2x2 1/2 steel plate for welding and mounting the anvil/vice/grinder/etc.
The table saw/mitre saw/wood working tools will be built into an 8 foot woodworking center that will have locking casters to store it against the wall.
Some hanginer wall board will go up for cords and assorted brick-a-brack.
Some color on the walls and floor finishing will tidy it up at the end of the build.
I'm pretty much giving up one stall for workspace. I can't get my truck into the garage (it's too long) so I'll only be able to use one stall for parking anyways.
More pics as I progress.....
