Bought the smallest model - the sport, just to keep in the back of my motorcycle. It's my first lithium ion mini jump pack / power source, and while I read alot of good things about them I'm just wondering if anyone has had any long term use with them.. I'd consider ditching the bigger traditional jump pack / air compressor combo that I have in the back of my Honda for a bigger model of the antigravity if it's really "that" good.. I have a 12v compressor anyway that I keep in the car, so the compressor in the jump pack can go....

We have a local battery shop in town.the owner builds/rebuilds batteries sells, carries a full line of chargers also sells jump packs.mainly j n c.but also recommends micro start.they use one daily in the shop and have for 2 years trouble free.i was in the other day and they were talking about it with a customer.

I just bought the Power2Go 12-Volt Lithium-Ion Portable Battery Booster.
Haven't had the need to use it yet...it was $40 at Menards, Joilet, Illinois.
It is not as compact as yours, but mine will still fit in the glovebox and it is a lithium ion battery.
I just couldn't pass it up for the price!

shopping

Black and Decker missed the boat when they don't supply a cord bag to hold all the detachable cords so I bought a cloth pencil bag at the dollar store.
Loose the cords and the thing is pretty useless.

I use mine at work daily/almost daily. It has been dropped in the mud, left out in the rain, and shows no signs of slowing down.

I bought one on Amazon. One of the leads pulled out of the connector. Was past the return period through Amazon, and the manufacturer never replied to my email. It was DB Power.

I've used it to start lawn mowers and a Gator. Haven't used it on a car yet though.

I keep it in a Milwaukee soft case with my Power Probe and multimeter.

Man, thanks for the laugh. When I first read your post, I thought you were trolling about how you just bought an antigravity jet pack for your motorcycle, :D

What scares me about all of the Li-Ion jump packs out there is there QUALITY.

These have been a hot item for a couple of years new which means that every tiny shop in China is trying to know them out at the cheapest price. Too many unknown brands and not enough reviews to separate the good from the bad.

High charge/discharge rates and overcharging are what cause the battery packs to heat up and possibly catch fire.

For you DIY electronics guys, I would just make a fast battery charger (not a true jump start). Get 8 Panasonic 18650 3400 mAh cells, wire them in to a 4S2P pack. I would add the extra balanced charging wires and connectors. At 14.8V it should recharge your car battery pretty fast and you probably only need 8 gauge wire (buy some of the high strand count, silicon insulated wire they use for RC cars and planes). Mueller makes the best battery clips (BU46).

If you could find a small, cheap DC volt/amp meter that would be perfect.

Using this device does require some common sense. If the battery pack gets 2 hot to hold, disconnect it !
