At work we had 10 kra2055, and kra4059 snap on boxes on a shelf in our back room. We are cleaning out the room and was told they had to go. If I had to do it again, would definetely be first come first serve. Called the first squadron over to see if they could use them. Free boxes, snap on, brand new, and they are hemming and hawing like I'm screwing them over. First squadrons guy took two, so I called the second one, said they would take the rest. First squadrons guy show up wanting 2 more, told them it was already claimed but if they back out, I'll call them. Second squadrons guys show up, toss them in the truck, not even so much as a thank you. Is it too much to ask?

I'll bet anyone on here (myself included) would have happily paid shipping for a free box (and said thank you a million times over!)

Not a joke. We got them for area boxes, and we're told after the fact they only wanted 2 boxes. The flightline boxes that we have are road boxes so they are bigger, and even those are getting replaced, hence these were of no use. Sorry boss, not a joke!

So I guess I shouldn't tell you that the 10 road boxes and a kra2007? Will either be going to Drmo or the scrap metal bin when their replacement FOD boxes come in?

What's the point of this thread? The owner of the company you work for is clearly a fool.

The owner of the company is the us tax payers, the CEO is Obama, (USAF). The point of the thread was that I was surprised that the second guy didn't even say thanks for calling him. Considering it was a 130 squadron I probably should not have been.

This sounds eerily similar to Obama's wealth redistribution scam , especially the part where the person that already got a freebe comes back demanding more and gets mad when he don't get it ......

I thought government property like that had to be either scrapped, or sold via an auction? That's what people told me when I bought my Vidmar cabinet that the PO had taken from his AFB when the base upgraded their storage.

If these were being given to people to take home as their personal property rules were definetly bent to put it mildly. If they were given to other government sections for official use thats fine. As a former USAF tool crib NCO I would never jeopardise my career and retirement by giving away brand new expensive tools and equipment for personal use nor take it home myself. And If I did I would never post it on the internet!

Very true, however that was not the case here. These were transferred to two squadrons for use in their support section (tool cribs). If no unit on base would have taken them, they would have gone to DRMO, and would have been eligible to be auctioned off to the public through a site such as govliquidation.com, or if they were to have been found to have zero value other than scrap, they would have been disposed of in our scrap metal bin at base recycling.

Its not unusual for squadrons to post up equipment when something is being replaced for other squadrons to grab for official use before it is disposed of through one of those options.

Yeah you get a different type of "You ****" for for lack of clear information getting these guys all excited LOL. You could also clarify 130 squadron is C-130's. I am a former KC-135 and B-52 crewchief, spent about 5 years total out of 26 years total, stationed at Blytheville AFB AR, Castle AFB CA and Barksdale AFB LA. Where you stationed?

I apologize for my comments , I misunderstood what you were saying . I thought you were saying that the tool boxes were being given away to civilians , my mistake .

so whats the point, no one gave anything away, if it was transfered to another squardron, if anyone deserves a thanks its the tax payer, for buying snap on tool boxes, that will eventually go to aution in a couple of years.

Lol, sounds like the American public once again is the fool

Squadron = USAF most likely.

Wonder how many of them stayed on base...

My brother in law is a civilian miltary contractor. He said it would make you sick of all the brand new stuff, some still in boxes, that get thrown in the dumpster.
