A buddy traded me for doing some work on his car (upgrading his fuel system) He had it in his shop for a year then moved it in with his other shop so he no longer needed it.. So i did not have many specs on it.. But it has a baldor 7.5hp motor 80gal tank and im sure its this pump.. http://www.eatoncompressor.com/catalog/item/518643/191079.htm

Now is that pump any good? Im sure it will be fine for what I need but I dont think its dual stage... or is it?

Eaton makes, IMO, one of the best compressors you can get and the baldor motor is also very good. I will be order a single stage when I build my new shop next year. Check out the CFM Eaton make, they are one of the highest you will find in a stand up compressor. You can run just about any tool, sand blaster etc... and still have plenty of air. I think this is your compressor.

Also 2 stages are less efficient than a single stage because stage one takes in the air, second stage compresses it. On less CFM compressors, 2 stage might have it advantages but on Eatons, it really doesn't matter. Look at the 5 HP single stage Vs the 2 stage, no difference in CFM's. In fact, I don't think they make a 2 stage in the larger cylinder compressors. It's all in the CFM, they lower RPM's and have bigger bore is why Eaton's can produce such high CFM's.

I'm confused as to the "Snap On" on the title yet reference to an Eaton Compressor???? Which is it?
The Eaton you show is a beast and really on the high side for a 7.5hp motor even the slow RPM motor. The Older Eaton's should have a stamped plate on it with the specs. The Baldor will definatly have a plate indicating the RPM, frame type, amperage, rating, etc..

PCW: what do you think of the Eaton compared to the Saylor-Beall? I'm running a 7.5 (IIRC) Baldor on my SB.

They made a few of them. Do you have the model number off the compressor. Take a photo. If it's the same as I have, I can get you a manual for it. I think the company that made them was called "The Big Red Compressor" company or something of the like

I like mine. 2 stage and as quiet as can be.

Vinko,

Saylor-Beall is another industrial grade compressor that has been around a long time. They are more expensive than Eaton but are of good quality. The reason I like Eaton is, I am a bang for your buck type of person, I want box store pricing for an industrial grade compressor. Quincy, Champion, SB to name just a few are good industrial compressors, however you will pay top dollar for them. Eaton prices are lower and their CFM's across all compressor sizes are higher. I also like their approach to compressors. Low RPM's, big pistons = more air, less friction, less vibration and quieter, that all means a compressor that will last longer. I'm sure there are folks out there that may have had a bad experience with Eaton, that happens, but they have the the 3 things I'm looking for, price, quality and CFM's Just my 2 cents.

The tank is made in Canada and the motor is a 7.5hp baldor.. but im not 100% on where the pump is from.. it looks like the one I posted but its not exactly the same, the front face is a bit off and the oil level is not in the center like the pic.
