Just one car, a couple bikes and some seasonal storage.... more of a resting area, the other garage is the work area.

Is the garage erected on a slab that is larger than the footprint of the garage. It looks like maybe a 24'x24' slab with a 20'x20' on top. If so, what keeps the water from running under the sill plate?

Unfortunately yes. The building was a mail order one, which is VERY nice but it required that I did the crete work several weeks ahead of time.
We built the retaining walls to level out the area and poured the slab 21'x21'. The company showed up with the pre-fab building and said "well our buildings tend to run a little short", so the actual building is on the "light side" of 20x20.
Between the stick construction and the concrete theres the foam spacer. I caulked the heck out of it behind the siding and added gutters.

If I were to do it again and have a little more time, I'd rather have at least one course of block to get the lumber off the ground.

I noticed no tar paper or wrap under the siding. I never saw that before. Is that going to be OK?

Local code doesn't require it. Hopefully everything will be fine.. I figure siding has been around longer than tyvek wrap so I'm sure its not absolutely necessary.

I'm currently planning a "little" 20x20. You mentioned that it was a mail order. Where did you order yours from? Mine will hold my old motorcycles and be a small shop and place for me to get away for a while.

A place called Absolutely Amish. They are in PA. They didn't have quite what I was looking for on their site so I e-mail/called them. Spoke with a guy named Roger Fox who was very helpfully and custom built mine to my "design". He allowed me to move doors and windows and remove windows and an overhead door.

I will never build anything without some sort of house wrap under the siding. Even 80 years ago most siding was preceded by tar paper at a minimum. Siding always leaks. Gotta have something under there to shed the water.

Absolutely Amish is real close to me. Never heard of them but just requested some info. Wonder how their prices will compare to the poll barnes in my area. Guess we'll see. Thanks for the info!

Nice looking shop. How did you turn the GN to get it in the back? Is it on skates?

As for the lack or paper or wrap under the siding, it really is necessary to shed water since the Vinyl siding will not be watertight.

Thanks! I borrowed a set of dollies from a buddy who has a body shop to spin it in sideways like that and put it up on jack stands. Since then I've invested in my own when Harbor Freight had them on blow out sale.
