Just Ordered a Epoxy-Coat Kit

Hi all,

I have a 22x25 attached garage on my new house which the clsoe date is June 29th, so still a few months away. The house is 7 tears old, and same with the slab the garage is in. The floor is in very good shape, and does not show any signs of cracking that i could tell(old owner had bunch of **** in
garage).

It is not my first epoxy job, but my last one i didnt diamond sand the older paint off and had a bad experience.

So this time, I wanna rent a concrete sander and get a diamond pad for it to prep the floor.

Heres my process

Wash floor of any heavy oil stains(if any)
Sand floor with concrete sander and diamond pad
Wash floor with water and Acid to open floor pours(is this nessesary??)
Put humidifier in garage for a few days to remove as much moisture as possible

Then proceed with kit instructions from Epoxy Coat

Does this sound like a good plan, or should i not bother with the acid after sanding?

If you grind it well, you really don't need to acid etch it unless the pH levels are way out of whack and that would lean you into bigger problems of excessive moisture migration headaches. gene

Agreed, You should not have to acid etch after the diamond grind. Both are means of profiling the concrete. 1 is chemical the other is mechanical.

Consider any spall repair / patchwork prior.
Consider a primer prior to epoxy depending upon the condition of your floor / prep work.
After I did a diamond grind, I only used acid etch for spot treatment (some spots showed up after wet vac.) - then neutralize acid areas, wash, wash.

K thanks for the hints guys. I have the diamond grinderr reseved for july 4th, I'kk ahve to wait till the house close, june 29th, to inspect the res tof the slab.

about a 5/7 with 265/35r22 on the rcsb white

Read my post about Epoxy-Coat products here. You'll be happy with the results but don't use that stick method of mixing your chemicals. I highly suggest you follow my instructions. Trust me. It's worth the small additional investment of measured mixing pails to ensure you you get to use all of the product you ordered and get uniform curing.
