Just ordered my Epoxy-coat

I just placed my order for doing my floor this weekend........$800 worth Hope this works out well.. If I can figure out how to post pictures here I'll do it. If anyone has good advice on this please let me know.
I am diamond grinding Friday and painting Saturday, that is if the diamond grinding doesn't take forever.... I have 1200 SF total about 840 SF has clear sealer I have to get off, the rest is 1 year old addition that hasn't had anything on it at all yet. The person at Epoxy - Coat was very knoledgeable and nice.

I have been reading up on all the epoxy floor storys here for weeks, watched videos of installation so I think I know what I'm ddoing but any advice will be read by me.....

Yes, please post progress! What color did you go with, and are you flaking and adding a clear coat?

I am getting ready to re-do my floor, and am also considering Epoxy-Coat, so any thoughts or input would be appreciated.

yes i'm putting flakes in it, 3 different colors, went with grey base color with charcoal, white, and blue flakes. decided not to use the clear, didn't think I needed it in my case and it is glossy without the clear.. That and I don't have the $$ for clear at the moment either. I will try to put pics up in steps for everyone.

got my order today, UPS are rough! One of the part B's in the kits leaked some getting all over everything in the bucket..... I blame UPS, only way it could leak would be if it were upside down for a long time. looks like an ounce may have leaked out so I don't think it will hurt anything, just enogh sticky activator to make a mess. had to wipe everything off with thinner.

got my diamond grinder reserved for tomorrow at 2pm, hopefully I'll get it all ground and cleaned up tomorrow evening and put the epoxy on Saturday. should be posting pictures this weekend sometime.

yes i think i'll add some of the non skid to the floor, probably mainly by the intrance doores and bay door. pics coming soon... start on it friday night

jeeeze.............diamond grinding takes forever! 6 hours and not quite half done.... that junk clear sealer gums up, takes forever to get it off. going to bed, getting up early to take the grinder on for another 15 rounds.....

if you don't put the clear topcoat over the paint chips (yup, they are either acrylic or vinyl paint) what will protect them from dirt and wear? After all the work you are going to do, I'd not skimp on the topcoat protection. Your car has a clear-coat over the paint...your floor should too.

well, I ground my floor all day today, I think I can blow a concrete garden gnome out of my nose from all the dust that got by my mask.....I have probably 16 hours in grinding, I went ahead and etched the whole thing since I had to etch the new part of the concrete anyway, if nothing else it is really clean....Will be painting it sunday afternoon.... pictures to come, too tired to mess with it now..

Just one hint from me: Open the box with the spike shoes, and put them together before you begin.
I put my floor down, and got the shoes out from the box to throw down my flakes, only to discover that the shoes needed assembly before use.
I semi-panicked trying to put the shoes together in a hurry.

heres a few pics to show my progress. I found that I am going to need more epoxy, I guess I put it on a little too thick but it looks great so far. I just finished the back portion of the floor up to where their is a seam. I will post pics of the whole floor when I finish it later this week. I also had a little mishap, epoxy cures fast when it's in the bucket. I waisted a little by not pouring it out fast enough.

hey everyone, sorry for the long delay with more pics, floor turned out nice. Only thing I will say is I have some roller marks in it but the flake hides it. huge improvement over the nasty soft sealer that was on it. the light spots on the floor are a reflection from my lights.

after you did your diamond grinding did your floor feel like 100 grit sand paper?
Just curious as after I did mine it still was smooth and felt nothing like 100 grit so I had to use muratic acid too

yes I put the non skid on it but just around the bay door and walk in doors. My floor felt like 100 grit when it was done but I ground on it forever to get the nasty gummy sealer off. I went ahead and etched the whole thing anyway, it cleaned it up really nice. I figured it wouldn't hurt anything and I had the etch that came with the kits anyway.
