just picked up a walker 740 fully mechanical jack

I found a fully functioniing walker 740 in a old farm barn around town, picked it up for 20 dollars and this thing is awesome. How desirable are these and how rare are these? I have never seen one like this without any hydraulics, so that really caught my interest.

theres a small metal tag on the handle that on some peoples walker jack says a day right after the word "patented", mine just has "patent nos and then the numbers", but does this mean its a older one? Where else would i look or how else would i find out what date it was made?

That is a very good question I have yet to get a good answer on. Since color print was non existent back in the 20s, I suppose is why no one knows. The best I have come up with is a blue color Walker used on their jacks that was advertised on newer catalog ads. Mine has a hint of some of that blue I believe, but it is very faded and discolored.

Here is my tag. The Patent date is 1922. That doesnt mean the jack was made in 22 but it is close. I think they made a hydraulic version of our jack in the late 20s early 30s then in mid to late 30s they changed the design big time.

when i bought this jack, i put the jack as high as it will go and i couldnt get it to lower, well i finally got it to lower, but not exactly sure how i did it and im not sure its working correctly. I think maybe things are gummed up and dont want to force anything. Thats why ill see if anyone here knows the correct way to lower this? ive seen other pictures of this jack and seems like some of them dont have the foot pedal on the left side and the swirley thing on the right. Heres some pictures of it, if someone cares to help. Thanks!
