Real mechanics use real tools and they don't come from Harbor Freight.

I used to feel the same way, until i learned that "Real" mechanics just get the job done.Someone should take a POLL and ask how many "Real" Mechanics shop at HF.
Or how many "Real" mechanics make the same amount of money using Piitsburgh tools.

Jiffy Lube tech doesnt count as a real mechanic. Your posts are so confusing first you try and make a guy feel bad for overspending by 300 bucks on some sockets and extensions, Then you claim you was trying to help him then you reference that you recently bought 3k on Name brand tools and now your back to definining "Real Mechanics". Make up your mind.

Not to be an *** or anything or take away from the kids thread (Good buys by the way) , but when you buy those harbor freight hex drivers make sure you don't forget to buy a good set of bolt extractors. Because when his hex drivers don't strip the bolt or screw he's working on, and the harbor freight ones do, he is the one who will be smiling and not swearing while having to use a bolt out kit.

buy, then use these tools to help you to make a living. dont live to pay for your tools. buy the best tools you can afford to get the job done the right way, no matter who makes it. i've never known one person who made a living being a tool colletor(except pawn shop owners). brand loyalty is silly, whatever the brands who are loyal to you should have your business, it's called customer loyalty.

congrats on the purchase. keep make your old man proud.

First of all, congrats on your tool purchases, happy your dear old dad, pitched in,

Neal, as a young or old tech, all that Snap-on, Cornwell.........hardline beauty, can get to you, and next thing you know, spend spend, that is great.
Why not, he made some smart purchases, nice tools.

For all you other guys, I have Cornwell impacts, and hex drivers etc......I also have some HF Taiwan ones in my travel box, and the HF ones are actually strong. The old HF impact sockets have been great for years, and I didn't NEED to buy Cornwell, I wanted them.

The guy spent his money on what he wanted, Kudos to that, can't go wrong. It is not always about what will get the job done. I can prove we don't NEED Snap-on tools to get it done, we WANT them because, period..........or in my case Cornwell is my "sweetheart"

Think of it this way. Both a beautiful woman and ugly woman can give good head. If you close your eyes, they will both get the jobs done. But seeing the beautiful one, looking up at you, really is a better "experience".

CONGRATS, nothing beats the "smell and feel" of new proline tools.

does not help that mechanics have really awful compensation packages
which is why you will never see my kids working on cars
daddy took the knocks for them , I got paid , but fighting hard for it all these years wears one down

you have to be currently enrolled in mechanic related programs. basically you fill an online application includes your instructor's name and contact. then they will contact your school to verify if you're legit. it takes 3-4 days.

Just an update. All the snap-on stuff I ordered is on backorder...so who knows when that will come. I did get the impact, and the TW, so I will snap some picks this weekend.

I am thinking of getting that same torque wrench as I am currently an automotive tech student. Is that the one that includes the comfort handle? Would be great to see some close ups of the torque scale!

I'm wondering how you're going to get the crate with the box in it off the shipping truck, unless you have a fork lift. The shipping trucks only have a pallet jack in the back and that crate isn't going to fit on the lift gate. I hope you have a forklift at work. :shocking:

lift gate? normally trucking companies charge $50 extra for deliveries that require lift gate.

in my opinion snap on doesnt have that great of student program. I mean you DO get snap on tools and you DO get a discount but its only general stuff. Thats one reason i buy most if not all my stuff from matco. everything is awarded a student discount i believe. i havent bought one thing from matco that i didnt get my discount on. i still have the full limit on my snap on account. but you gotta nice order headed your way for sure

the discount catalog is small but if you ask your program rep you'll learn that you'll get student price on anything. I have with everything I've ordered....I spent almost 1k at student cost.

You're one lucky guy, I wish I had gotten a gift like that when I was in college.
Keep up the good work:rocker:

I think Neal was joking.

I have two questions:
What kind of college has a Snap-On guy?

Can I send your dad a copy of my grades from when I was in college?

If i'm not mistaken UTI has a Snap On guy(correct me if i'm wrong, please)
