Funny story my very first attemp to weld , i was holding the rod and ready to run my bead and as soon as i made contact, BOOM!!!!!!!!! my friend who was teaching me slammed the table with a slug hammer. Ill never forget that:) AND HAVE USED IT EVER SINCE WHEN TEACHING MY FRIENDS.:)

Another one is replacing the tungsten with a piece of sharpened aluminum welding rod in the TIG class...

Cerritos College offers all of their classes both day and night. Long Beach City College has a brand new lab and has night classes as well. People come from miles to these schools.

If you're not near those schools, check out LA Trade Tech. If you're out in the Inland Empire, well I don't know as some guys were driving in from Riverside to go to LBCC when I was there.

I thought I checked out Cerritos a while back and it seemed that all they had was the program. I may have been mistaken. I'll have to go back and check it out again along with Long Beach.

Thanks

Might be a little thread jack, but I want to go back into welding
and there are a some classes offered for WLD 110/115/121/122 licenses.
Are these used in construction?

Thank you

I have been pondering taking some additional welding classes myself. I took some in high school, but haven't really put it into practice much lately, so I'm fairly rusty. My first thought would be at the technical college as they're quite good. After having been in their auto shop I've thought about that as well. My next option, possibly more likely, is to take some of the welding courses through EAA. Granted they have an aviation theme to them, but as I hope to someday build a plane, it's perfect. I took a mini course last year during Airventure and loved it. It was the OA class and really gave a significant amount of info in a short time; even had some practical time with the torch which was great.
