I'll spread this out over the next few days. Just a few Craftsman highlights from lot of old tools I picked up on Craigslist. I'll probably send 3 or 4 gems to Ebay to get my money back but will be able to keep most of it, some I'll use, some set aside for my son, some may even end up in the Secret Santa pile if I get the right name. Check back if this stuff interests you because it will take a few days.

Screwdrivers: a few from the Super Tuff era, some screw holders, some basic NOS packs and how about some gold plated examples (hard to photograph, so included a pic next to a standard driver from same era)

Cool, I've got one of those super tuff's around the shop some ware but I thing mine has a ground up tip and a crack in the handle.

The old Super Tuff handles are very unstable and smell ten times as bad as the newer ones if kept in a closed container. They almost eat themselves over time.

Lets see...one more for today....some hole cutting things, sabre saw blades and tubing bender set.

No, it's a Craigslist seller that I've bought from before. His grandfather was a bit of a hoarder and he's slowly sorting through it. The guy knows what he's got but isn't interested in running 100's of Ebay auctions so I get pretty good prices buying in big lots. There are a few items that will go in the "all USA Craftsman" box I'm setting up as a gift for my son, a few things I'll actually use and I always sell enough from each buy to get my money back. There were 5 tape measures in this lot, one went to my son's box, one I'll use, one is actually pretty rare and beings around $100 on Ebay... the rest I'm not sure.

The pictures I've posted so far are well under half of it. That "vue-measure" tape measure, half of the screwdrivers and a few other trinkets will get my cost down to zero so everything else is basically free or profit.

That toolbox is insane. Looks better than new. Besides the toolbox and screwdrivers, none of your other pics will load. :(

All the pics now work for me on my laptop and tablet, no idea why. They are copy/pasted in... that's probably the wrong way to do it. I always inserted URLs before but Google Photos and I don't understand each other.

That toolbox might not be very old, Craftsman did some "heritage" boxes like that a few years back.

I do love all the NOS Crown label stuff though!

Maybe some random non-Craftsman stuff that was mixed in for the holiday today. Long Stanley No. 45 screwdriver and a little Yankee 2H reversible ratcheting screwdriver (not the spiral drill, this is a non-changeable blade and just ratchets). The Wards Riverside wrench set still has the price tag. I think the large wood handle screwdriver shown in same picture is Master Mechanic and the push drill is Dunlap. The Power Kraft screwdrivers are probably a little newer than some of the stuff but still probably at least 40 tears old maybe?

This is definitely vintage. I can tell the difference a mile away. I don't think they ever did re-pops of these "no latch" versions.

I am just trying to figure that box out. It's not in the 1949, 1954 or 1957 catalog. The new ones were not repop's so much as "fantasy" items that had the vintage look to them with the old style logo.

And what "difference" are you talking about. I can see only a few pictures, you have it in your hands so you can see things I can't.

As close to the border as you are that may have been a Canadian Sears box, either vintage or modern fantasy "heritage" style. We are always seeing unusual boxes from our northern brothers.

Anyone else seen this box before, whether it was old and beat up or new

I've seen Dunlap branded (also Park Manufacturing and Wardmaster) boxes with very similar construction and Craftsman had a relationship with Dunlap or used Dunlap as one of their brands....I don't know the exact story. I suppose it could be Canadian. When I got it a few of the bare metal parts had that kind of patina that you just can't fake. I'm very confident that it's actually old.

Dunlap was Sears lower cost alternative to Craftsman.
Also, when Sears released the retro line of boxes weren't the logos just decals and not metal badges like the originals ?
Not saying that someone couldn't just swap one out but why bother.

Thanks for that Dunlap ebay link, yours and that box are nearly identical. The carry handle retainers are a bit different and the front is obviously different. I now believe your box is vintage and either is Canadian or in a catalog I don't have access too. That Dunlap box on Ebay doesn't show up in the aforementioned catalogs either.

I get a kick out of the window tape. I remember about 4 years ago on the DIY channel they had a program "I WANT THAT" where they gave a prize for the best new idea for a tool. One award was for a tape like that. I had one and knew it was not a new idea. I sent them an E-Mail informing them that they had screwed up. They did not reply, of course.
