Well, I have some planning for a future shop to run by you guys. First I’ll give you guys the quickie on the goals for the shop.
STORY….in 2 years I’m building a new home in east Texas north of Houston. It will have a 2 car parking garage for my daily car and my wife’s daily car. Also it will have a detached 2.5 car garage-shop. I love and work on mustangs constantly and wish to continue later in life.
This is what I want for the shop
Lift/raised ceiling
Good storage
Hard piped compressed air
“Dirty area” for welding and grinding (outside would ok)
Good lighting
Finished and painted in a mustang theme
Good counter space
Deeper the typical garage, by half normal depth

So I have a few questions…..
What are the typical dimensions for a garage this size? Just to get a ball park. I have a rough drawing I’ll scan later to give you guys a better idea.
I also want a smaller roll-up door on the side to drive a mower or a quad into if I want.
Anyway I have plans and an trying to get some good blueprint software for homes, so after I do that, I’ll add to my plans.

Sorry this is so long and scattered, I’m excited and have so many ideas that I just had to talk about it to someone. You’ll hear much more as the process continues.

ID think like about 30x30. because my 2 car is 19x21. I think if I were you, I would build it as high as possible(without making it ugly lol) and see if you coulnt put in a second floor stoage area, kida like a loft. up in the back, and wall off the are underneath it to be like the welding/gridning fabricating place. You could box in the compressor, and install an overhead hoist system on tracks to get stuff from the ground up to the loft. Id consider Lista cabinets too if they are in your budget, because it sounds to me like you are going for a show garage type look too. They will give you a more finihsed look than like a craftsman roll aroung. Check out griouts for ideas. They have all sorts of cabinet systems.

Mine is 30x30 . I can work on two projects, and have room for my work bench, welder, drill press, blast cabinet, ect. And 12 foot cellings are great if you want to add a lift.
