Went to stripe a Cadillac today and afterward stopped at one of my favorite antique stores in search of old knives(my other addiction). Sitting in a display case was a small old rusty tool box with some tools in it. Did a cursory look through and bought them for the asking price of $15.
A couple of new names(to me anyway);Bonner and Buhl. There were also 4 very old Bonney wrenches in the pile;3 that were stamped with the fractional size and then USS afterward. The other one was the S shaped open end with standard fractional sizes. Also a Billings open end and several unmarked ones. There was also a metric wrench with a mark I have seen before somewhere;possibly Hazett.
A very old adjustable wrench with a piece of bent steel rod for a handle and another marked Trimont Mfg Co in Roxbury Mass.
The toolbox isn't all that bad a shape;a couple small dents I'm attempting to work out(hard to get at)and have some rust penetrant soaking in the tray where the rust is.Not sure who made the box but it had a brown wrinkle finish similar to what Kennedy uses on their boxes.I'll post a pic of it when it is cleaned up.
