Either somebody didn't get a pole line easement...or some builder didn't bother to check if he was building in an easement...usually the later...

I saw one builders house that he had built around the temp power pole in the middle of his garage. He didn't have to get it inspected until he hooked to power correctly so he never did get inspected and wasn't paying taxes on a completed house. Hole in the concrete and hole in the roof no joke.

I would have thought code would prohibit having live wires over a roof like that. I know firefighters don't like dodging live wires while they're tearing into a roof to put out a fire.

I agree, no AC power in the pic, cable and telephone.

I don't think there is any phone, as it would be very odd for them to share a messenger, (the steel cable that supports the CATV cable). All I really see is the CATV hardline and some RG6 drops associated with it. No telling what some rural areas may do, as this picture bears witness. I wonder if it is, or was, part of some mom and pop CATV service way back when.

At least they could have left the soffit open on the outside in case the pole ever has to be replaced. Pretty tough to remove that pole without damage.

It looks like the soffit is open, they just have the gutter across the opening..?

Funny thing is that directly behind the house on the left is the plant where I met my wife 30 years ago when I was home on leave.
So I've got a lot of history in this neighborhood, not to mention all the furnaces and ac's we repaired/installed in this neighborhood over the years.
