My new shop is 30X 50 which translates to 28 x 51 inside. The machine shop portion will be 28 x 31. Out side walls 8 ft with 16 ft radiused ceiling. Need about 8 x 13 ft on one wall for lathe, mill, and work bench. HF 51 in box will be roll around. Have been thinking about a 16 ft bencheck on the same wall but wonder if I'd be better off to use several large lateral file cabinets on that wall. Small footprint, 5 to 6 bays tall, and build a couple benches on casters as needed. It's a blank space but can furnish pictures?

I suppose it rather depends on what your storing...I don't think lateral files would hold up to say, tooling. My dad's shop is not laid out well, and the machines all tend to be tucked into corners and alcoves. No space for tooling nearby, so we got a bunch of cheap plastic tool carts and built racks on them to hold the tools for each machine. They get stored under a workbench in their own little cabinets when not in use and just rolled over to the equipment.

If I did it again, I'd just weld together some metal carts.

Sorry, I don't have any pics.

And also how is your shop bigger on the inside than the outside? Thats a nifty trick
