K-D 2190 Flare Tool

Does anyone know if the K-D Tools 2190 flare tool is still available? I searched the Internet (including eBay) but could not find it. I purchased mine about 30 years ago and broke it the other day. I really liked it and would like to replace it.


I was trying to double flare 1/4" stainless steel brake line and broke the cast piece that holds the cone. Stainless steel is very tough to flare and I was using a cheater bar. I applied a little too much torque.


The tool was made in the United States of America and always performed well up until now.

Any help provided would be welcomed.

I don't see it in the Gearwrench catalog or on their website so, I would say no.

Gearwrench absorbed KD more than a couple of years ago.

Another vote to fix it. You can have a fab guy with a laser or PC cut a cross piece out of 1/4", then weld on a grade 9 nut for the threading. It should work like a charm.

I have one. I used it once 45 years ago and have not used it since.
