I have a couple of the small Reddy heaters and one of the wicked type heaters. I'm wanting to store them in the top of my shop this summer. Any problem with this? I have a metal ceiling and storage above that, temps will be pretty toasty this summer up there. Should I drain the tanks completely or what?

Thanks

I have been using a kerosene reddy heater for over 16 years. When I'm done with it for the summer I just put it away as is. No matter if the tank is full or empty.

When I pull it back out in the fall I change the filters and run it. I've never had a problem.

Can't help on the wick types.

I don't have a reddy heater- but I do have a jet engine style heater that uses K1. When I am thru for the winter, I just stick in the corner. Has worked fine so far- lights up the next year just fine.

If you have mud dauber/wasps, be sure and cap the outlet where the excess air ports out the back from the air/siphon. Mine got plugged and so now I keep a plastic cap on it. Cap blows off on start up if I forget to remove it.

Also have my fire extinguisher hoses capped, and childproof caps on all unused electrical receptacles (they love to build in the ground pin holes). Also plug all air hoses (plug one end into the other), and all extension cords the same, one end into the other.
