Ok, I got a brand new 175k btu, remington k1 heater a couple weeks ago. Previously I had borrowed a friends 75k btu heater to heat my garage and never had a problem just leaving the garage up a couple inches. But the old one stunk bad when it turned off, and had no thermostat. Hence the replacement. The 175k is clean burning, barely a smell of anything, however, after letting it warm up this week for about 30 minutes, (IT WAS COLD) I went to the garage and discovered that I couldn't even get a lighter to strike to smoke a cigarette due to the lack of oxygen! 
I realize that it's way too big for what I need,(3.5 car) but was wondering if there's something I could do short of leaving the garage doors open. I really should've sprung for the ceiling mounted propane unit, but didn't want to go through the install right now. for now, I'm running it with the door open 1.5 feet and I picked up a carbon monozide detector just to make sure, but it runs nearly constantly this way and the breeziness is less than pleasant. Thoughts? Inventive solutions? I thought about a heat exchanger, that would allow me to put it outside, and have a fan recirculate the air through the exchanger into the garage, but sounds to me like that might just be a whole lot of work and money for little return. Thoughts? Maybe pipe air from the outside to the intake of the heater so it doesn't burn all my oxygen up lol?
