I recently purchased the saw for what I think was a fair deal $135.00 and am in the process of bringing it back to life. I am wondering if any one here knows where I can get parts for this saw if they are still available. The Hydraulic dash pot cylinder is not working at the moment and the machine needs a good bath.

I am aware the saw uses an 89" x 1/2" x .025 blade / 7'5" x .5" x .025" and am looking for advice on what blades to purchase and best place to get them.

So far I have fixed electrical issues from the motor to the switch and straightened up some covers or doors to the blade wheels.

Things I still need to do before I can use it:

1: Give it a good cleaning

2: Fix or replace hydraulic feed cylinder. ( as of 10/10/18 the problem was the needle valve had a crack in the threads at the bottom where it threads into the cylinder. Repaired the valve and it is working as it should )

3: Check oil and condition of reduction gears.

4: Clean clamp screw so I can check for wear on the screw and nut.

5: Find and install some blade brushes.

6: Straighten one of the bent feet. “One of the casters is kicked in a bit”.

7: Get and install the correct size bolt for the motor swivel mount.

8: Weld the front idler wheel cover back on.

9: Check all the blade guide bearings and replace as needed.

10: Adjust the motor pulley so the belt lines up a lot better.

12: Figure out what type and length belt is used to drive the pulleys. “the belt has a big slice on the skinny inside leaving about 3/16” at the outside edge of the belt” Maybe there is some type of rubber glue I can use to repair the belt?

That’s the short list to get this thing usable and I'm sure I'm leaving out a few things.

Here's a couple pics of one of the damaged doors and piano hinge that I managed to straighten and a quick video.

Kind of hard to tell from your pictures but I think you have a newer and smaller saw than mine. The instruction sheet under the wheel cover looks about the same as what I re-created from my cover that was in bad shape. I found some standard parts for mine to keep it running. Guide bearings were standard size and I think I got mine at Industrial Source. V-belt for the drive is cheap and pretty easy to find. My hydraulic cylinder was a little leaky but I stuck in some standard o rings and fixed the linkage and it's good as ever. I never did find any brushes for the band but it keeps running fine even without them. I guess I never found the need for specialty parts. A couple pics of a similar saw. Ed.

For belt try this.
High resolution PDFhttps://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.gatesaustralia.com.au/~/media/files/gates/industrial/power-transmission/chart/gatescorporationbeltidchart.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwj4-OCs-fXdAhWE5IMKHWnODG4QFjAAegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw3QmxR3vgUlUJ64VM6QJcqQ

If your measuring it make sure you read under "high power II v belts" about what to subtract

Thank you Oregon Rock Crusher. My saw has steel legs instead of cast iron legs which makes sense that it could be a newer version based on that.

Do you have a preferred blade choice as in make/model/teeth count etc?

Thank you for the belt PDF Dingleburry.

I just discovered by reading up on a different model Kalamazoo saw Parts/service manual that this 610 model was made from 1949 - 1969

Blade selection is going to be based on what you are going to cut and what the stock dimensions are. I get my blades from bandsawbladesdirect.com

As to looks on a thread, give it a little more than a half day before you start wondering. There is one site that I’m on, where it might take a week before answers start coming in. Not everyone that may be able to answer, visits the site as often as others.

Thank you cvairwerks for the heads up on reply's. I am use to people posting a reply rather quick on other forums and when they don’t it sometimes tells me no one is interested or the threads move rather fast and get missed all together. I have not spent a lot pf time here yet. Every forum is different. I just posted in another thread fishing for this one before I saw your reply. Hope I don’t rub people the wrong way.

Is no sweat on getting a little anxious when becoming part of a new to you forum. Each has it's own pace and once you know it, it's easier to get into the flow. I see you found the other thread in this forum about the saws, so that should help some. Another place to look, is Practical Machinist. Just be aware, should you join, read the posting rules about what is and is not acceptable in what machines can be discussed. Lots of great people over there that are willing to help or point you in a good direction, but they can be merciless on those that fail to heed the guidelines and those that fail to even do rudimentary searches via Google and on the forum.

Thank you cvairwerks. I did read a couple of threads from there that had this 610 saw up for discussions. I would like to learn how to do machining some day like lathe and Mill work but space is limited atm. I have done the google search for 610 related threads. I read quite a few different posts here and there. Sometimes my head feels like it is going to explode at times from research overload. :lol_hitti

I have another thread going on over at Welding web and have learned quite a bit already and was able to get the manual from a member there. So I am not totally in the dark and I know I still have a lot to learn on this saw.

OK talked to a nice gentleman Tom over at Clausing service and he gave me some prices for the following. Unfortunately he can not sell to me because they are not set up to sell to California because of tax laws but he could sell to any other state. suggested I contact MSC here in Sacramento as they purchase from Clausing for California Customers.

Cylinder repacking kit part number X-145 $43.00
if the cylinder has the leather inside the seal kit = parts kit X-140 $87.00
Blade Brush SP-44 $2.15 ea.

minimum shipping cost usps flat rate.

I used gear oil from Wal Mart, said safe for yellow metals on the bottle. I have a parts saw if you need parts, don't have a hyd. cyl. though. I rebuilt mine, got the leather seal from Clausing, ended up making a new rod for the cyl.

Thank you 454. I pulled the cylinder today for teardown and inspection. Turns out the needle valve was cracked at the base of the cylinder and is now completely broken off. So I am going to need the flow control valve. Cylinder seemed to work and create psi when I put my finger over the port at the base of the cylinder where the valve threads into the clinder.

The fix worked. I am leaving it locked halfway up overnight to see how the cylinder holds.

For the fix, I filed down the valve body where the threads broke off and retapped the valve body then used a 1/8” NPT male to female extender to get the valve back close to the original placement.

Edit to add pics:

I checked the saw this morning after about 7 hours of being locked half way between the fully raised position and fully lowered position. It held up and maintained it’s position with no problem which tells me it is now safe to use with out having to worry about it creeping down on me.
