Does anyone here own a Kalmazoo 7ad? I just got in my millermatic and I am looking at getting a bandsaw instead of an abrasive or cold cut saw. A local guy has a kalamazoo for sale. I'm looking for feedback and curious what y'all think its worth in "ok" condition. Alternatively, I found an old Jet 4x6 that I can probably pick up on the cheap.

I have the older model 610, pretty much the same. These are good saws, far superior to a 4X6 import. They have a quick set vise, hyd down feed, and in the 7AD's case 7" X 10" or 12" capacity. The larger capacity is important, because when you swivel the jaws for an angle cut, capacity falls off.

I went ahead and picked up the 7AD. It needs a bit of fixing up but still cuts perfectly fine. Just needs some tweaking. I am going to try and find a new blade for it.

Here are some pics for yall!

On a side note, the blade is cutting angled inward. If I start the cut it will get shorter the further down the blade goes if that makes sense. Its not cutting parallel to the vise surface. Does anyone have any idea what might cause this?

I've got a 7AW, same thing except water-cooled. It's a great unit, practically bullet-proof.

I'm not sure how to "true" the saw, but you should be able to adjust the pivot point to be parallel to the vise. I bought a manual from Kalamazoo, which probably covers how to align/adjust. It was like $7; well worth it.

Takes a 1/2" X 89" blade, don't try to adjust anything till you try it with a new blade. If blade is worn/dull it will sometimes not cut square. Since I have a good stock of blades, one of my best sources is Ebay, bought a bunch there VERY reasonable. Great saw, bet you're gonna love it.

I'm loving the saw so far. I'm going to go ahead and order up a new blade. Its a great machine and very solid. I feel alright that I payed $200 plus a bag of extra C-Man sockets for it.
